Central Michigan Athletics is accepting applications for a Marketing and Fan Engagement Graduate Assistant or Temporary staff position within the CMU Athletics Marketing department. This position will report to the Assistant AD for Marketing and Fan Engagement. This position is designed to expose the individual to all aspects of planning and producing engaging live events while telling the story of our University, department and student-athletes. This position will work collaboratively with athletic communications, revenue generation, development and creative content initiatives.

Position Summary: Assist the Assistant Athletic Director in the planning and achieving marketing initiatives to increase awareness and attendance, engage students, enhance customer experience and solidify the department's brand. Provide assistance with the creation of marketing plans for Olympic sports and game day duties associated with each of CMU’s 16 Division I programs. Collaborate with the athletics creative team to develop programming and digital marketing content for use on video boards, halftime shows and recognitions, sponsor activations, in-game promotions, fan contests and other entertainment elements. Write game day scripts for assigned sports. Manage in-game music for assigned sports. Assist the Assistant AD with the student worker program, as well as game day assistant assignments. Attend university and community events to promote CMU Athletics. Collaborate with on-campus student organizations, campus leaders, and community members on collaborative events. Assist with other events as needed. Maintain compliance with the rules and regulations of the NCAA and Mid-American Conference is of paramount importance to the University. Perform other duties as assigned. Assist in the day-to-day promotion and branding of CMU Athletics by working with other external units to develop and implement a consistent and effective marketing strategy. Represent the University and Department of Athletics in a professional manner. Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Prior experience creating and/or executing marketing plans
  • Willingness to research and think outside of the box.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively
  • Knowledge of current social and digital media trends and specifications
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and driven
  • Self-motivated

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Prior collegiate athletics experience
  • Experience running gameday promotions a plus
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in marketing, business, journalism, public relations, communications, graphic design, or related field.
  • Prior experience with social media platforms

NOTES:

Additional Salary Information: Graduate Assistant full tuition waiver (excluding fees) with a stipend of $10,900 or Part time hourly temporary staff position with a salary of up to $24,000 August – May 30, 2022. This is a non-benefited position
