Goucher College seeks a motivated, junior social and digital media professional looking to grow their career to join our fast-paced communications office. This position takes ownership of Goucher's primary social media accounts, proactively managing them and leveraging them as recruitment and fundraising funnels. This includes daily monitoring, interaction, and posting; creating and managing a content calendar; creating or curating digital content; and development and implementation of strategic social media campaigns.
Reporting to the director of marketing, this position works with the marketing manager to also assist with overall marketing strategy and efforts for the college, providing proactive feedback for marketing efforts and assisting with other digital marketing campaigns as needed.
Overall, we are looking for someone that can audit our social media strategy and structures, recommend improvements based on data and experience, and implement new campaigns that tie into our overall marketing strategy in order to meet recruitment or advancement goals for the college. The ideal candidate will be able to speak emoji as well as have a solid understanding of how to launch and monitor social campaigns from a technology/backend standpoint. The candidate should also have strong analytical skills, able to review data and performance from digital campaigns and recommend/implement changes.
This position works with the communications office, which includes a team of designers, writers, web experts, a videographer, and more, to support all of the communications goals across the college. Due to this structure, the person in this position has the opportunity to interact with a variety of stakeholders across the campus.
Required: Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field
Required: At least two years of digital marketing experience, preferably in social media management. Must have industry and/or deep social media marketing knowledge and skillset.
Preferred: Experience in a marketing-related position with a focus on writing and editing style for web and email communications.
Computer Skills: (1) Microsoft Office on both Mac and PC, CMS/web-editing software programs, blog platforms (WordPress); (2) social media platforms, Hootsuite; (3) comfortable with learning college-specific database skills (CRM/Slate) ;(4) mass email distribution systems preferred (MailChimp);HTML and design skills preferred (Photoshop, Illustrator); (5) comfortable with photo and video editing (Premiere, YouTube editor)
