The Sr. Marketing Manager - DTC will be primarily responsible for setting strategy and growth plans for McCormick’s DTC platform as part of the company’s strategic growth plans. The person will lead cross functional coordination of US Consumer Products DTC plans, volume/profitability, innovation, end-to-end fulfillment model, and consulting with McCormick’s Marketing Excellence organization to deliver media and creative strategies & plans for this platform. This role will have 1 direct report as well as contractor(s) as needed.
Manage P&L of segment(s) and product lines, product life-cycle including SKU rationalization, new product business case development and commercial strategy and implementation.
Lead weekly cross functional DTC Agile sprint NPD project meetings
Act as marketing lead on discrete, low complexity Alt Channel projects as needed, and when appropriate.
Document activities and sequence of all cross-functional areas in collaboration with subject experts. Create documentation to track project status and approvals.
Objectively assess complex business process to identify gaps and solutions to improve Alternate Channel commercialization efforts.
Handle multiple priorities simultaneously and foresee and address issues before they become significant obstacles.
Manages Alt Channel project launch readiness and processes (e.g, FPP routing, MAC, Sales Samples, Project assessments).
Use lateral thinking to breakdown project plans, analyze and evaluate to choose the best solution
Exercises discretion regarding strategic recommendations, data and sources, analytic conclusions, and financial recommendations.
Establish processes to capture team learnings, improve and innovate
Bachelors Degree in Marketing, or related field required
Minimum 5 years of marketing and/or sales experience, preferably in a direct to consumer business or similar.
Demonstrated significant and relevant skills and results in consumer packaged goods
Strong project and people leadership experience with demonstrated success in managing multiple projects, P&L’s, and developing talent.
Expertise in syndicated databases, market research, business and brand planning, advertising, finance, promotional activities and consumer communications
Sound understanding of DTC concepts, principles, and practices in Marketing (functional expert) and a working knowledge of practices in other areas including Sales, Finance and Supply Chain including 3P models.
Deep understanding of the industry sector and competitive landscape across multiple segments, including best in class DTC strategies and execution.
In-depth understanding of how own area integrates with other Marketing areas and with other functional areas such as Sales, Finance, MarTech, Supply Chain, and Digital Strategy & Analytics.
Data analytical skills as well as evaluative judgment based on the analysis of factual and qualitative information in complicated or novel situations outside of normal business operations, an entrepreneurial spirit and approach to continual learning.
Filters, prioritizes, analyzes and validates potential complex and dynamic material
Developed communication and diplomacy skills required to guide, influence, and convince others (internal and external)
Strong cross-functional strategic leadership, communication and teamwork skills; strong storytelling abilities to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the organization.
