The Senior Marketing Manager serves as the subject matter expert for the Long Term Care customer segment, performing as an organizational resource for all facets of customer, market, industry, competition and regulatory environment. This position is responsible for translating that deep market knowledge into differentiated value propositions and programs to maximize McKesson's position in the segment, activating the strategy in the marketplace, and driving meaningful ROI in the $2B+ Extended Care market.
The Long Term Care segment represents both Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) and Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs). This segment is a foundational element of our nation's post-acute care continuum, with more than 15,000 SNFs serving 1.4 million residents, and nearly 30,000 ALFs serving more than 800,000 residents, and an important legacy customer segment for McKesson Medical-Surgical.
A large responsibility of this role is to evaluate and determine how MMS can help customers with key challenges, such as declining payer reimbursement, increased federal and state quality oversight, staffing shortages, evolving resident expectations, and technology advancements. This includes a deep understanding of subject matters, translation of trends and customer needs into strategies, partnering with internal teams to assess, gathering Voice of Customer (VOC), developing recommendations, setting goals, piloting (as needed), readying our Sales teams and bringing to market comprehensive programs. Goals will be a combination of revenue, lead generation/conversion, milestone achievements and engagement measures.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a problem solver who employs strategic, creative thinking to drive results, with experience in and enthusiasm for working in white space. Successful candidates are results-oriented, demonstrate an ability to influence in a matrixed organization, have strong time management skills and can work comfortably in a constantly changing environment. The ability to work quickly and effectively on several initiatives concurrently will be critical. The position entails considerable interaction with cross-Marketing team members, Sales leadership and Sales teams, and other departments within McKesson Medical-Surgical.
Serve as internal customer advocate by translating a deep understanding of needs, challenges and pain points
Build and promote segment value proposition and messaging in partnership with our Marketing Communications team, and market it to Customers alongside Sales materials
Develop strategic marketing platforms/programs and initiatives, content and materials to support strategies
Develop segment innovation and research agendas
Build content agenda to support content marketing efforts
Obtain VOC through formal and informal research methods for use by Marketing and for critical business objectives
Build/maintain documents of segment operational, financial and regulatory insights
Develop personas of key Customer targets for internal use
Develop and maintain the Segment Marketing Plan, that includes but is not limited to:
One- to three-year Marketing strategy
12-month fiscal year Marketing plan
Competitive, SWOT and other analyses
Segment size, share and growth trends
Segment landscape; including sub-segmenting and target identification
Maintain 12-24 month view of market changes
Translation of insights to implications with business recommendations
Follow consumer/patient trends to identify expansion opportunities within core segments
Ideate and drive recommendations of innovations and new products, solutions and markets
Customer trade association identification, prioritization, engagement and relationship management
Selection, strategic direction and support for industry tradeshows in partnership with Campaign Management and Events teams)
Identification and recommendations of additional potential strategic alliances
Develop path to establish MMS as thought leader within industry
4. Other responsibilities
Develop materials and present to internal teams on segment and activities, as needed
Content development for National Sales Conference (NSC) and Leadership Meeting, as needed
Collaboration with internal teams on analytical needs; including self-service options
Understand and contribute to advancement of segment and campaign metrics
Tracking of key Customer metrics, such as Net Promoter Score
Serve as primary point-of-contact for segment Sales leadership, and various teams
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to take insights and turn into an executable strategy that drives results
Demonstrated B2B marketing experience
Demonstrated experience in value proposition development and engagement
Experience with integrated campaigns (multiple marketing channels)
Ability to interpret multiple Marketing metrics to inform tactics
Experience with market research, analysis, and some segmentation
Experience in competitive profiling and benchmarking
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Ability to manage multiple cross-functional projects as individual contributor
Strong collaborator with ability to influence at multiple levels within the organization
Business/partner relationship development and management experience
Healthcare or related experience; exposure to/experience with Long Term Care/Assisted Living/Senior Care industry and/or providers a plus
Executive-level presentation skills
Expert PowerPoint skills, moderate Excel skills
Basic competency with all other Microsoft Office applications, including Office 365 and OneDrive
Learn and use other internal software applications (e.g., Tableau, marketing workflow management system)
Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Business, or similar relevant degree, required; MBA preferred
8+ years of B2B and/or B2C Marketing experience
Traditional office environment
Travel as needed for conferences, Customer interactions and business meetings (~15-20%)
Work from home as required during public health emergencies such as pandemic
Large percent of time performing desk-based work (computer, telephone)
