Position Summary

Columbia University's Department of Surgery is looking for a marketing director to help connect patients to our wide variety of services, strengthen and build our relationships with referring physicians, promote our message of health-literacy to the general public, and grow our overall brand presence in the marketplace.

In this role, you'll have an active hand in shaping our long-term marketing strategy, optimizing our existing efforts, and developing new marketing campaigns across digital and traditional outlets. You will work as part of our Strategic Communications group, alongside teammates dedicated to content, product, and events.


Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and refine ongoing multi-channel marketing campaigns for the department as a whole and for individual divisions as needed.
  • Provide SEO and strategic marketing recommendations based on analytics reviews and keyword rankings.
  • Create and manage Google Ad campaigns, with the goal of driving appointment request conversions.
  • Manage ongoing email newsletters and announcements, and create additional targeted email campaigns.
  • Create and manage social marketing campaigns on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Organize, maintain and grow lists of leads and contacts for marketing and outreach.
  • Organize and maintain Google My Business location pages for faculty and locations.
  • Manage creation and maintenance of print collateral as needed.
  • Identify and provide perspective on new trends and technologies in digital marketing.
  • Explore and develop outreach opportunities with media and industry.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other groups within the medical center and our partner hospital (New York-Presbyterian) to develop new marketing opportunities.
  • Collaborate with division administrators and the department's finance office to track the impact of marketing campaigns in terms of patient volume and revenue.
  • Manage relationships with faculty and administrative stakeholders, including attending regular marketing meetings and providing reports.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum education:

    Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience

     Minimum related experience:

    Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience

    Minimum computer skills:

    Intermediate MS Office skills

    Strong verbal and written communication skills

    Independent, self-motivated

    Expertise in the Google products suite (Ads, Analytics, Keyword Planner, Search Console GoogleMyBusiness), Mailchimp, Facebook ads, Twitter ads, and other common PPC ad platforms

    Experience working directly with and presenting to stakeholders

    Experience in healthcare/healthcare marketing is a strong plus

    Experience with content creation and production tools (Photoshop, InDesign) is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred: Master's degree
  • Minimum of five (5) years in Digital Marketing Preferred
