The Marketing Manager is responsible for advancing the school’s Admissions and enrollment outcomes through strong marketing and communications and with an eye towards broader Advancement goals. This person works closely with the Director of Communications and Marketing and the Director of Admissions to ensure that GFS is top-of-mind for all families whose child(ren) might benefit from attending GFS. In addition, this role is responsible for creating a superior experience for prospective students and their families through communications that represent GFS’s visual and verbal identity, events, and engagement with students, alumni, and families. This includes an emphasis on accurately, effectively, and eloquently enhancing GFS's mission for diversity and inclusion in all marketing outreach materials and events.

Duties and Responsibilities

Inquiry Generation through Media/Advertising and New Partnership Ideas

  • Manage integrated (web/radio/print/event sponsorship) annual advertising strategy to drive awareness in target markets, inquiries and attendance at Open Houses, and participation in priority programs (i.e. Summer Camps). Craft and strategize segmented messages for a diverse applicant pool of prospects.
  • Research and assess advertising opportunities (online, radio and print).
  • Develop media plan and purchase ads.
  • Develop/produce seasonal ads.
  • Maintain all GFS listings on third-party websites.
  • Produce yard signs and banners for open houses.
  • Manage sponsorships of area events.
  • Develop partnerships and area networks to support new connections.

Enrollment Communications
Ease and enhance enrollment and re-enrollment through clear communication and creation of connections between newly admitted families and current families through the following channels:

Web and Email

  • Develop and produce email series that fosters connection, drives interest, and ties in with broader themes/events at GFS.
  • Work with Digital Communications Specialist to maintain admissions pages of website, ensuring accuracy and clarity of all information, and develop engaging social media posts.
  • Develop and produce surveys to gather input on the experience of applicants.
  • Ensure branding is consistent and clear.
  • Test and monitor website and digital marketing analytics, improving and updating campaigns as needed.

Print and Design

  • Update and manage production of existing materials, including application and key marketing materials, with support from outside designer for larger projects.
  • Support materials development for new programs and initiatives (together with Director of Publications and Marketing Special Projects).
  • Develop creative for annual print ads.

Research, Analytics, and Departmental Support

  • Work with Admissions, College Counseling and IT to gather and analyze enrollment information that impacts advertising, communications, and marketing strategy.
  • Work with members of the Communications team to assess campaign effectiveness, SEO strategy, and email campaign improvements.

Event Strategy and Support

  • With support from both the Admissions Directors and Advancement teams, design creative Open House and yield events, with the goal to engage past, present, and future GFS students and families in fun and meaningful ways.
  • Work with Communications team to develop program, invitations, and visuals.
  • Work with Admissions team to identify event goals and assign event duties.

General Marketing Support

Support the Advancement team and school with a variety of marketing needs, including:

  • Placing and developing ads.
  • Strategizing and developing signage, digital, and print materials.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, English, journalism, public relations, advertising, or related field required.
  • A minimum of 4-7 years previous professional experience in a marketing role is required.
  • Exceptional writing, research, proofreading, and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and strategic planning skills, with a high degree of competency interaction with internal staff, students, and occasional external stakeholders and donors.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse and close-working team.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize tasks and priorities, manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Adobe Acrobat required. InDesign and other Adobe design software competency.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. Experience in Development and/or Admissions preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as Google Docs, preferred.
  • Experience using content management systems and project management systems.
  • Independent worker and thinker as well as a team player.
  • An understanding of and appreciation for independent school education and the mission and Quaker values of Germantown Friends School.
