VP COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING (UA-VPCM-IUBLA)

University Communications and Marketing provides strategic leadership to protect, advance, and elevate the university's brand and reputation in Indiana and around the world by creating guiding resources for and collaborating with communications and marketing partners across all IU campuses, schools, departments, and centers.

The Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (OVPIA) and the teams of staff in OVPIA's offices are the stewards of international activity across all campuses of Indiana University. We provide strategic leadership and advocacy for all international programs and projects and coordinate the resources necessary to sustain their growth. Our goal is to enable as many students, faculty, and staff as possible to pursue international and intercultural knowledge and experiences and to become engaged global citizens.

Within OVPIA, the mission of the Office of Overseas Study is to promote study abroad by Indiana University students through participation in quality programs in a wide range of disciplines. The purpose is to enhance international awareness and understanding and enrich curricula on every campus of the university, as well as to expand educational opportunities abroad for students from diverse backgrounds. We strive to broaden and increase participation in study abroad, international internship and service-learning programs.

Indiana University is seeking a Marketing and Communications Specialist to support the Office of Overseas Study. Areas of focus may include writing and publishing communications for specific target audiences or student groups, creation and delivery of promotional or educational materials, data collection and market research, and development of marketing plans. Work may involve multiple consecutive projects and collaboration and consultation with other departments, employees, and university stakeholders.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Assists with writing, editing and execution of publications, as well as web and database maintenance.
• Manages student Communications Intern(s), providing guidance and supervision as well as serving as a resource.

General Responsibilities

• Independently develops and executes basic strategic marketing plans for a department or functional area within a department to advance goals and objectives, including data collection and market research, target market definition, development of project timelines, sourcing of promotional materials, and marketing content creation.
• Responds to inquiries and requests from stakeholders and explains information regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
• Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, and acts as a collaborative resource in curating marketing plans to relevant initiatives, groups, events, and programs.
• Regularly researches relevant subject matter to increase knowledge in area(s) of specialty, including information on various marketing channels (print, online, electronic, email, social media, and direct mail).
• May participate in team-based marketing planning to align strategies and deadlines across various concurrent projects and initiatives.
• Collaborates with users of various software programs and creative platforms to create and deliver new, and/or edit existing, content and marketing materials in multiple formats to a variety of audiences.

EDUCATION

Required

• Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English, public relations, or related field

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Bloomington, Indiana

This position will work primarily in-person from the newly constructed Ferguson International Center.

This position may be eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.

$44,100 - $50,000 annually, based on experience.
