Responsible to perform and manage all marketing/communications/public relations efforts in the Williston Parks and Recreation District, Williston Park Board and Williston Parks and Recreation Foundation.
Responsible for Williston Parks and Recreation print and electronic publications to include designing, editing, printing, and distributing newsletters, email marketing, recreation guides, brochures, flyers, and other marketing materials.
Creates, maintains, and updates the Williston Parks and Recreation District website & all other WPRD media platforms.
Works to develop marketing strategies to promote overall brand management and recognition.
Responsible for the Williston Parks and Recreation District’s social media pages including main page, ARC Fitness and Child Sitting Clubhouse.
Responds to inquiries and concerns to ensure effective communication and timely resolution of public relation related situations.
Develops and implements marketing strategies for the district; including but not limited to: promotional events, community outreach, advertisement, etc.
Oversees photography of Williston Parks and Recreation District events, programs, ceremonies, and other activities to utilize for various marketing efforts.
Assists with planning, logistics, coordination and execution of events, programs, ceremonies and other Williston Parks and Recreation District activities.
Establish and develop relationships with media agencies to promote the Williston Parks and Recreation District.
Cultivate community contacts and develop collaborative relations with community members and group representatives.
Creates and manages all surveys and feedback for departments programs and special events. Has the ability to analyze the information and present it to the other Park District departments.
Support WPRD goals by raising community awareness of available products and/ or services.
Coordinate with WPRD park board commissioners and foundation board members on communication, marketing, and public relation efforts.
Prepares a variety of publicity materials including news releases, factsheets, talking points, speeches, and social media content.
Tracks and reports on marketing metrics, membership numbers/trends, and evaluating effectiveness of current marketing strategies.
Implement and contribute to the continuous improvements of the organization’s membership strategies.
Provides communications assistance to the Executive Director and staff of the WPRD.
Perform other related duties as assigned and required.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Effective organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
Extensive knowledge of brand management, marketing, sales, social media management and strategy.
Evidence of superior written and oral communication skills.
Preferred knowledge of Programming software such as RecTrac or similar
A demonstrated ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced working environment.
Experience with graphic design and website editing platforms.
Requires a high level of creativity and resourcefulness.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with a variety of groups to include staff (full and part-time), volunteers, and media.
Requires the ability to set and achieve goals through effective decision-making.
General knowledge of the Parks and Recreation/fitness/wellness industry.
Support and enforce all policies, safety regulations and guidelines, established by the Executive Director

Position will require some evening, weekend, and holiday work
Fast paced environment with multiple programs and facilities running throughout the year

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communication, advertising or related field, 1-2 years of experience OR a combination of similar experience/education.
Current CPR Certification, or able to obtain within 6 months
Ability to work weeknights and weekends as needed
Ability to work with limited supervision
Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds or heavier lifting with other employees
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
Knowledge of operational policies, procedures, accepted standards and methods of the parks and recreation field in marketing facilities and programs
The knowledge and ability to manage multiple tasks
Possession of or ability to obtain (within 30 days) a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicles or equipment operated
Have essential physical and mental capabilities in the following: Interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, follow directions, comprehension, calculating, reading, writing, speaking, evaluating, mathematics, organizing and innovation
