The UNCG Department of Library & Information Science is looking for a part-time LIS Recruitment & Marketing Specialist. This position would be responsible for a broad array of forward-facing recruitment and communications duties, such as:
Assist in recruitment efforts for the LIS, M.Ed., and BSIS programs, including preparing for conferences and attending recruitment events.
Work closely with department program heads on specific recruitment campaigns.
Maintain all aspects of multiple social media accounts and post departmental announcements and news.
Document and track social media data, and make sure pages are compliant with social media guidelines.
Make sure social media and recruitment campaigns are inclusive and reach diverse and underrepresented populations.
Manage the LIS email account. Respond to simple inquiries about the program and forward other messages to their intended recipient.
Help build and maintain an LIS alumni network.
Foster relationships with incoming students and graduates.
Interact with students and faculty to gather information for social media and departmental events.
Work with LIS and BSIS student organizations to promote news and events.
Disseminate job opportunities via the listserv and by posting to the job board.
Help plan, advertise, and staff departmental events.
Help design physical and digital media such as brochures, flyers, FAQs, and banners.
Help maintain the departmental website.
Document major events via photo and video.
Help maintain and organize departmental technology.
Help manage synchronous streaming of meetings and events.
Other duties as assigned.
This part-time temporary position is 20 hours per week, and requires an unpaid 30-day hiatus every 11 months. The position is renewable contingent on available funds and performance. In-person work is required, but some remote hours may be possible.
High school diploma or equivalency, or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, advanced social media skills, familiarity with streaming media, and a college degree, preferably in communications, marketing, or PR.
