CMU is seeking a creative and energetic multimedia specialist to visually portray the research, experts, events and initiatives of one of the world's premier institutions! The multimedia specialist will create photo, video and other digital content delivered through CMU's central communications and marketing channels, including social media, online content, internal communications, collateral and more. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong photography background and additional experience in video storytelling and digital media production.
The multimedia specialist sits within the creative department of the University Communications & Marketing (UCM) division and reports to the director of photo and video. The multimedia specialist will work closely with other members of the creative team, colleagues in UCM and across the university to help create compelling visual content.
Your core responsibilities include:
- Working with all members of UCM, develop story ideas and generate multimedia content for CMU central communication and marketing channels
- Produce a variety of digital assets, including photography, short-form video and audio segments using industry standard software such as Adobe Creative Cloud
- Provide complete multimedia production services to meet project needs on schedule and strategy, both independently and in collaboration with other content creators in the division as well as across the university
- Work closely with the director of photo and video on many aspects of project planning, creative vision and implementation
- Work with other members of the photo and video team to determine the best allocation of time and resources to cover project workload
- Provide estimates and creative solutions to satisfy project budgets and timelines
- With other members of photo and video team, operate and maintain shared professional video and photo camera and lighting equipment, both at an in house studio and on location, and make recommendations for additions and upgrades
- Maintain and update asset collections and archives on in-house video server and online digital asset management. Search for and provide assets upon request
- Stay abreast of new technology and current trends, and be aware of appropriate multimedia formats for emerging communications channels and platforms
- With other members of photo and video team, maintain general operations and quality control for all capturing, editing, post processing and archiving procedures, reviewing and updating as necessary.

Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred, in photography/multimedia/design or a technical field, or equivalent combination of training and experience required
- Professional experience in creating and producing photography (samples required)
- Proven multimedia experience, including producing video or similar content for online or social media (samples required)
- Demonstrate technical and aesthetic skills with a sophisticated eye for lighting, composition and moment
- Take art direction as well as make creative suggestions based on feedback
- Knowledge of web and social media platforms
- Broad understanding of or interest in higher education issues and in current events; experience in or deep knowledge of higher education preferred
