Job Duties:
The position will play an integral role and be substantially engaged in the coordination and strategic development, implementation, and activation of comprehensive marketing and ticket sales plans, fan development campaigns and organizational branding outreach activities of the university's athletics program. This will include applying professional expertise, creative thinking and discretion in the execution of the responsibilities of this position. This position will have independent interaction and collaboration with both internal and external constituents and will actively analyze the results of materials, programming and events relative to campaign and branding goals and objectives. This position includes supervising, mentoring and management of both full time and student support staff in the execution of the unit strategies and action plans. The professional in this position is accountable for the marketing and fan development strategies through the coordination of advertising, promotions, social media, and extended game-day events, including management of timelines and activities affiliated with all sports, and specifically produces all football and baseball games. This individual will build quality relationships and work collaboratively and professionally with Pirate Club, athletics, and University staff, students, business vendors and all donors and stakeholders. This person will also abide by all written policies and procedures of ECU, the Department of Athletics, The Educational Foundation (Pirate Club), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and all applicable conferences or associations. This position supervises the following permanent staff members: Trademark Licensing Coordinator, two Associate Directors of Marketing & Fan Engagement, Head Cheer Coach, and Head Dance Team Coach.
Reporting to the Associate Athletics Director for External Operations, this position is responsible for the below duties:
- Plan and administer all aspects of the Athletics Marketing budgets.
- Oversee all game day atmosphere functions including, but not limited to, script writing, on field promotions and presentations, music, and other forms of entertainment.
- Implement a marketing package, each season, as a theme for all spectator sports including football, basketball, and baseball. This package includes the creation and purchase of various forms of advertising, the development of promotional partnerships, the production of ticket brochures, and the creation of a common theme to run through each item of the package. This package should be geared to reach all present and prospective constituencies of the athletics association.
- Assist the Director of Creative services who is responsible for designing and printing all promotional materials including but not limited to schedule cards, team posters, newspaper advertisements, billboards, brochures, and sales pieces. Ensure that the ECU brand and messaging is consistent throughout.
- Promote and expose athletics programs through social media.
- Assist the Director of Creative Services in coordinating and implementing all departmental media trade-out agreements with approval of the Director of Athletics and in conjunction with the Pirate Club and PlayFly.
- Assist with overseeing social media plan in conjunction with the media relations department, that highlights ECU Athletics, fosters fan engagement, promotes special events, assists with customer service efforts and increases the brand awareness of ECU.
- Supervise the cheer and dance teams including oversight of their budgets, schedules and post season travel as well as serve as direct supervisor for the coaching staffs.
- Serve as primary contact/liaison with the Marching Pirates and Pep Band which includes coordinating all post season travel, oversight of budget provided by the Athletics Department and coordination of game day schedules.
- Administers final approval of all marketing plans for all sports, including graphics, themes, and designs
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
