The BIG EAST Conference seeks qualified applicants for the position of Coordinator, Olympic Sports Communications and Conference Marketing. This position will work in collaboration with the Conference’s external relations team to promote the BIG EAST Conference and its member institutions. The coordinator will serve as the primary communications and media relations contact for select Olympic sports. Additional responsibilities include providing marketing support for a variety of Conference programs, initiatives, and events, including the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments. This position reports primarily to the Senior Associate Commissioner, Sports Media Relations.
Handle the day-to-day communications efforts for designated Olympic sports.
Write, edit, and distribute press releases and related collateral.
Compile statistical information, update records, and manage awards process for assigned sports.
Work closely with broadcast partners to provide pertinent information in support of event broadcasts.
Serve as on-site media coordinator for designated Conference championships.
Create engaging content for website and social media platforms.
Assist with the implementation of various marketing campaigns, including creation of marketing tool kits and tracking of social and traditional media placements.
Assist in the development and execution of impactful marketing and promotional efforts, particularly those surrounding high profile Conference events – media day, Olympic sport championships, men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, student-athlete programs, and other special events.
Support marketing and fulfillment of Conference’s corporate sponsorship program.
Assist with the planning and production of BIG EAST Digital Network shows.
Minimum of 2 years of related experience, preferably in Division I intercollegiate athletics or related setting.
Excellent communication skills – written, oral, and presentation.
Strong understanding of the social and digital media landscape, with experience creating content.
Demonstrated graphic design skills through Adobe Creative Suite (candidates will be asked to provide portfolio/examples).
Working knowledge of marketing strategy and experience assisting in the implementation of successful campaigns.
Availability to work nights and weekends, as well as to travel.
