The Director of Marketing is responsible for creating and implementing marketing strategies leading to an increased customer base, revenues and profitability of Shentel’s residential and commercial product lines. This position will ensure the company’s brands are represented effectively and efficiently across all communications, including the websites, social media, print, digital and all other advertising mediums. This role will lead the marketing team in developing clear and crisp positioning that will guide messaging and other go-to-market strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for understanding our markets and the business including unique target audiences and service areas – encompassing demographics, behaviors, influencers, channels and value propositions. Leverage this understanding to design and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to create awareness, drive demand, increase penetration, and for retention of customers.
Responsible for project management, implementation and activation as well as deadline-driven delivery of all marketing and communications activity.
Responsible for understanding and acting upon business KPIs and financial analytics, tracking the marketing and communications performance to meet those goals and reporting regularly on results to goal.
Works closely with market leadership including Sales, Finance, Operations, and Customer Service leaders to understand competitive environment, market share/market shift, business targets, growth drivers, opportunities and rapid response.
Supervise the department and provide guidance and feedback to other marketing professionals.
Lead the creation of an annual marketing plan and budget for senior management to review and approve.
College degree required, and 10+ years in a Marketing management role with strategic decision-making responsibilities, team management and project management, including marketing and/or communication experience is required.
Consumer product experience required. If no telecom background, possesses ability to learn the industry regarding technology trends and basic technical understanding of Shentel products and services.
Has managed multiple vendors such as advertising agencies, placement agencies, and research groups while keeping projects on time and on budget.
Has conducted market research, the ability to analyze data and create forecasts.
Has created marketing plans and effectively managed implementing them.
Experience in marketing recurring revenue products and services.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
