The Assistant Director of Marketing / Game Presentation and Fan Experience is responsible for the game day production of University of Washington athletics events with an emphasis on providing unique and memorable experiences for fans in attendance, and creating a home field advantage for student-athletes. This position reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, and operates in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Marketing and Assistant Director of Marketing and Fan Outreach.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Game Presentation:
Develop and implement entertainment elements for UW home games and select team events. Develop programming including videoboard content, pyrotechnics and special effects, on-field/court recognitions, halftime shows, sponsor activations, in-game promotions and contests, and other entertainment elements. Plan and execute game scripts for assigned sports, which includes communicating game information and run-of-show for the UWTV crew, Band, Cheer and Dance, Mascots, PA Announcer, DJ, Stage Managers and Audio team. Book national anthem performers, halftime acts, and serve as point person for special recognitions such as senior day and team reunions. Collaborate with creative staff to ensure videoboard and in-game elements are visually and thematically consistent with departmental and campaign brand standards.
Fan Outreach and Revenue Generation:
Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Marketing and Fan Outreach to brainstorm and execute all sport theme days, paid fan experiences, sport-specific kids club events, etc. Assist in the execution of Marketing Outreach initiatives such as Dawg Pack Tailgates, Camper Reunions, Teacher Appreciation, etc. in conjunction with the Pac-12 Sales and Marketing Fan Outreach teams. Assist in the execution of Marketing Outreach revenue-generating initiatives on game day such as upgrades, experiences, mascot appearances, and others where applicable.
Staff Oversight and Mentorship:
Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and training of Marketing assistants and interns. Assist in scheduling weekly office hours and game shifts as needed, and providing supervision of assigned sports. Brainstorm and implement career development opportunities such as informational sessions with full-time department staff, or networking with area sports professionals.
Sponsorship Collaboration:
Collaborate and meet regularly with Husky Sports Properties to create and execute unique corporate partnership opportunities that add value for fans in attendance.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pac-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field. A minimum of two years of combined professional experience in promotional marketing and event presentation is required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, creative self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills. A strong leader and mentor. This role will require a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
Desired:
Experience with Shoflo and Tagboard game presentation platforms is a plus but not required.
