Job Summary: | University Communications, the central news and content hub for UW-Madison, is seeking a talented and versatile marketing and communications strategist.
This position will develop, coordinate, and execute communication and marketing efforts in support of UW-Madison's Government Affairs, Strategic Partnerships, and Industry Engagement teams, while assisting with other University Communications and University Relations priorities. The role acts as a marketing and communications liaison to multiple teams, oversees complex projects, creates messages and content, manages social accounts and websites, pitches in on public relations and press outreach, assists with light news writing on key administrative priorities, coordinates stakeholder outreach and more.

Responsibilities: | Develops and drafts communication content and assists in the execution of the communications strategy in support of unit communication goals. - 10% Monitors reach and effectiveness of communication campaigns, projects, and initiatives
- 10% Plans editorial content according to established goals and objects
- 20% Communicates with stakeholders to verify requests and identify editorial resources
- 25% Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns
- 15% Provides project management and execution of communications programs, initiatives, and tactical plans
- 10% Segments audiences, identifies marketing opportunities, evaluates strategies, integrates and implements marketing tactics, and measures marketing program results.
- 10% Serves as marketing and communication liaison for Strategic Partnerships, Government Relations, and Industry Engagement offices.

Qualifications: | Required:
- Three (3) years in a professional marketing or communications role
Preferred:
- Experience engaging and communicating with public officials and/or a strong business to business marketing/PR background - Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic communication and marketing plans that support brand strategy. - The ability to conceive, propose, research, and create content, materials, speeches, or stories that demonstrate impact. - Strong time-management, project management and organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects in a deadline-driven, detail-oriented environment. - Experience using social media tools as part of a marketing and communication strategy. - Familiarity with basic website editing within a content management system. - Ability to cultivate effective relationships and work collaboratively across a large, decentralized organization. - Basic familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, email marketing platforms and performance analytics. - Familiarity with modern marketing and communication tools, trends and best practices, and the desire to stay up to date on their evolution. - The ability to work pragmatically towards organizational goals with diverse teams, with diverse perspectives. - Desire to support the mission and priorities of higher education and UW-Madison. - Ability to exercise independent judgment, meet deadlines and carry out assigned duties. |
