Position Summary
The Membership Marketing Manager is responsible for implementing the Society’s member lifecycle marketing and communication strategies with emphasis on new member recruitment and onboarding, member engagement, and member renewals. By employing best practices and a suite of association tools, the Membership Marketing Manager is tasked with the development, execution and ongoing optimization of cross-departmental marketing and communication plans, promotion of the Society’s membership, events, educational programs, products, publications and other offerings, and providing support to current and prospective members.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop, implement and track monthly membership recruitment campaigns
Manage the member journey, including new member onboarding and ongoing engagement campaigns focused on Society offerings; increase overall member utilization of benefits
Develop, implement and track monthly membership renewal campaigns
Collaborate with department stakeholders to develop and deploy communications that promote current and new offerings
Manage and execute Society’s email, social media and advertising schedules, and track/report on metrics
Ensure equity and inclusion are embedded and woven into the Society’s interactions with members, customers, partners and broader lighting community
Provide ongoing support services for individual and organizational members
Support Society’s presence, engagement and key messages at in-person events as directed
Act as staff liaison to IES volunteer member-based committees as directed
Identify and implement member support opportunities with the objective of increasing the value of membership
Identify new, and promote existing, volunteer opportunities at all levels of the Society, recruit/train volunteers when needed
Provide monthly reports on membership recruitment/renewal efforts against targets, and quarterly reports on email and social media metrics. Provide analysis and insights to help inform future decision-making

Experience and Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of five years of marketing experience in a membership association (required)
Skills and Competencies
Knowledge of and experience utilizing email marketing platforms (Higher Logic/Informz experience a plus)
Experience generating and deploying marketing automation and retargeting campaigns (required)
Experience utilizing association management software (MemberSuite experience a plus)
Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Experience in managing multiple projects and priorities with multiple stakeholders
Demonstrated experience in growing membership/customers and strengthening membership/customer retention
Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
Experience with database management and generating/analyzing reports
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, databases, spreadsheets, WordPress a plus
Travel
Position may require up to 15 days of travel to IES conferences and events. COVID-19 vaccination required.
