San Domenico School seeks a highly motivated, thorough, and team-oriented individual with superb communication skills to fill the role of Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications. This role is responsible for managing a weekly newsletter and supporting content, as well as assisting in all communications and marketing initiatives as needed, including the writing, management, and production of written, print, digital, video, and other promotional resources put forth by the School.
This in-person position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
Responsibilities of an Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications:
- Manage and produce content for ongoing weekly communications, including email newsletter and supporting news posts, website content, and social media channels.
- Support the School’s vision and mission by amplifying the accomplishments and perspectives of our students, faculty, and staff while adhering to our School’s voice and brand guidelines.
- Regularly communicate with faculty to identify, capture photos/video and report on newsworthy class projects, assemblies, student recognition, etc.
- Manage media advertising contracts and timely delivery of ad creative.
- Support production of School publications, including the annual report, school magazine, student handbook, course catalog, event invitations and programs.
- Manage ordering and inventory for school spirit wear, signage, and other collateral.
- Provide input and final review of department-level communications as needed.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or comparable experience in content strategy and production. Newsroom experience is a plus.
- Ability to perform under deadline, occasionally work nights and weekends for special events, and handle a wide variety of projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Strong work ethic and ability to take pride in ownership as part of a team building the foundation for the next chapter in purpose-driven education.
- Superb verbal and written communication skills, including ability to organize and effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Excellent computer proficiency (Mac, Google Workspace, Canva).
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and a passion for education.
- Must be proactive and take initiative in performing position requirements.
- Must be able to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Ability to lift signs, boxes of spirit wear, and promotional items for special events (up to 10 pounds).
- Ability to perform job responsibilities in person.
