As part of the Championships Engagement group, the Marketing unit leads Championships to follow a strategic framework the provides strategic direction with marketing for all 90 NCAA Championships and its more than 460,000 student-athletes. The job will be responsible for defining championship brands when making marketing-related decisions and advancing our brands through the different levels of the framework. The associate director will collaborate with internal teams to align with all marketing, branding, and ancillary event efforts. The associate director of marketing will create strategic marketing campaigns and branding taglines that serve all the championships at all levels. The Associate will primarily focus on Women’s Final Four, Women’s Volleyball, and Women’s College World Series championships with oversight of other championships as well.
Minimum seven to ten years’ strategic marketing within the sports industry, higher education, brand management, or a national organization (required).
This role will be based in Indianapolis.
Proven successful people management experience.
Experience marketing women’s sports is preferred
Experience developing marketing plans for special events, including creative, grassroots marketing, media buys, creative oversight, and earned media.
Proven understanding of clear, concise, consistent messaging through various platforms (required).
Experience in contract supervision and budget administration (required).
Proven understanding of the brand building of brands at varying levels including advanced and not proven yet.
Proven understanding of strategic planning and positioning (required).
Experience managing and supporting third party vendors and stakeholders (required).
Proven strong staff leadership and project management skills (required).
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (required).
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines (required).
Experience in committee and project team decision-making processes (required).
Excellent presentation skills (preferred).
Strong intuitive and reasoning skills (preferred).
The NCAA recently decided to mandate COVID vaccinations for all staff, contractors, and business visitors, unless for medical or religious reasons. New hires will be allowed 8 weeks post offer to get vaccinated or 1-week post offer to submit an exemption request.
