The Strategic Communication Specialist is responsible for increasing knowledge and participation in the cooperative’s programs and services and upholding the image of the cooperative. Responsibilities include developing marketing strategies to promote programs and services, conducting member surveys, tracking program and service success, tracking advertising ROI and demographic segmentation.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop advertising and promotion campaigns for existing and new programs and services, which includes working with other departments to promote their initiatives.
Identify new programs and services that advance the member experience and enhance the image of the cooperative to members and the public.
Aggressively promote the efficient use of electricity and all programs and services to co-op members.
Train internal employees on programs and services offered to members.
Coordinate member surveys and polls, including regular member-satisfaction surveys.
Identify demographic and economic trends.
Develop and coordinate promotional campaigns targeted toward specific member-groups.
Identify marketing opportunities based on segmented research.
Monitor and analyze strategies for programs and service advertising campaigns to help meet departmental goals.
Manage and track social media statistics and engagement.
Manage Google Analytics and respond to Google Reviews
Track advertising ROI and media mentions.
Plan, develop and execute a yearly marketing strategy and plan.
Work with communications employees to develop messaging for campaigns, products and services.
Assist in preparing collateral, including but not limited to, pamphlets, brochures, digital advertising and print advertising.
Stay up to date with new media trends and co-op industry changes.
Provide support to the Director of Communications with other marketing-related needs.
Position Requirements:
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or graduate equivalency diploma (GED)
College degree in communications, marketing, public relations, business or related field.
Previous experience with an electric utility, marketing, public relations preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Proven marketing, sales, strategy, messaging, or communication experience.
Strong analytical skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and presentation skills.
Possess an effective working knowledge or marketing techniques.
Detail-oriented and persuasive.
The skills to resolve conflicts and deal with difficult personnel matters in a professional and effective manner.
Being well organized, able to multitask, and ability to effectively organize and schedule other individuals and projects to meet scheduled timelines.
Ability to handle stressful, and/or emergency situations, in a calm and organized manner.
Ability to work independently with a minimum level of supervision.
Must be very motivated and able to work in a team-oriented environment with assigned responsibilities and be able to complete all assigned goals and objectives in an accurate and timely manner while following up with Tri-County Electric Co-op members and/or fellow employees to insure high-quality service.
Must have a Texas Drivers License or be willing to obtain a Drivers License within a reasonable amount of time.

Internal: various departments to develop marketing strategies for programs and services.
External: Members and public - maintains friendly, cooperative relationships with the members and the public in the performance of the duties and responsibilities associated with the Communications department.

Work Conditions
After hours work is required due to occasional planned events, storm-related events or emergency events. Occasional travel to related conference, training, and meetings.
