The Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) is a Research-Practice Partnership based at the Harvard Graduate School of Education with the mission of understanding faculty careers and providing its partners with data designed to make the academy a better and more equitable place to work.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Assistant Director is skilled at developing and implementing integrated communications and marketing strategies tailored to academic leaders in higher education markets. COACHE is a relatively small office and this position is the sole marketing and communication personnel. This means that this position needs to self-directed. The structure of the team and the nature of the work require significant levels of autonomy and professional judgement.
Developing and executing integrated communications, marketing and press campaigns to support COACHE's growth goals
Managing and building upon a comprehensive Client Relationship Management (CRM) strategy using best practices. CRM strategies are the primary tools for developing, engaging, and maintaining communications with prospective realized clients
Writing and curating editorial content for web, e-mails, webcasts and presentations
Assisting the Associate Director with the cultivation of social communities of faculty affairs administrators through phone, online, and in-person programs
Develop and execute partner specific events (webinars, conference presentations, etc.) that engage contacts with COACHE research
Develop reports and analytics on partner recruitment and engagement (e.g. Google Analytics, click rates, close rates, etc.)
Work with the Research Manager on workflows and partner communications for all COACHE research studies
Leveraging internal constituents and managing external vendors who provide supporting services
Providing analysis and recommendations on the use of vendors for marketing and sales projects
Other activities include working closely with the Executive Director to transition prospects into the COACHE partnership cycle; carrying out other projects and duties, as assigned
This position is a term appointment for one year from the date of hire, with a possibility of continuation.

Bachelor's degree required.
Three years or more of progressive experience in a communications, sales/marketing or similar role.
Adept with Salesforce (or similar CRM platform)
Experience with targeted e-mail and print marketing.

Experience with Marketing Cloud or other equivalent communications platforms
Demonstrated track record with marketing and analytics/reporting, as well as experience developing and implementing marketing communications plans.
Professional editorial experience, including writing, editing, and proofreading for print and digital media.
High level of comfort with public speaking and talent for developing phone rapport.
Understanding of higher education markets (institutional), and within them, of faculty affairs administrators at leadership levels (individual) is preferred.
Strong collaborative skills, but able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Robust work ethic in a goal-oriented environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud.
