Marketing Manager - Outpatient Practices - 2100444

Position Summary

Stony Brook Medicine includes the medical enterprise (four hospitals and 200+ community-based outpatient offices), and six health sciences schools. This position fills an important role in the Marketing and Communications Department, serving primarily as the Marketing Manager for select community-based outpatient practices of the Stony Brook Clinical Practice Management Plan (CPMP), Inc.

This position interacts closely with those who lead or support outpatient practices to understand their business goals and objectives, and develop and execute marketing plans. while ensuring that marketing efforts are strategic and align with the overall Stony Brook Medicine brand. The manager will report into the Sr. Director of Marketing Communications and will work collaboratively and have the support of the Marketing Communications team.

Duties of a Marketing Manager - Outpatient Practices may include the following but are not limited to:

The promotion and marketing communications support of our practices overall, our comprehensive multi-practice facility, Advanced Specialty Care (ASC), and select practices of CPMP that require external marketing as identified in Stony Brook Medicine strategic priorities and plans. Coordinating efforts to ensure cohesiveness and alignment with overall CPMP and Stony Brook Medicine strategic priorities. Focusing on any overall CPMP marketing efforts and practice-specific efforts by coordinating activities aimed at achieving strategic priorities of CPMP, such as volume building in the wake of the pandemic.

  • Leads the development of strategic marketing plans that drive growth, physician and consumer engagement and retention.
  • Determines effective methods of communication (online and traditional mediums) and creates on-target messaging (writing content appropriate for consumers/patients, and more technical content for physicians). Ensures accuracy and timeliness of messaging.
  • Implements all day-to-day marketing responsibilities such as: activation of marketing campaigns; coordination of events and seminars; highlighting positive stories across paid media.
  • Measures results of all in market activities. Ability to analyze and communicate complex information to distill impact of marketing programs and conversions.
  • Sends patient communications via email distribution platform, Open Moves.
  • Participates in the planning, implementation and management of the CPMP marketing budget.
  • Assists with coordination of all people involved in the development of content, including designers, production staff and customers, as well as external vendors which may include agencies, writers, designers, videographers and photographers.
  • Institutes revisions to graphic InDesign files, creates PDFs and pulls files from archives via server; creates Excel spreadsheets; creates and updates PowerPoint presentations; accesses photos as needed from digital asset management system.
  • Creates and posts new content onto websites after gaining necessary approvals.
  • Works with web team when significant/structural changes are needed to the Advanced Specialty Care and select CPMP websites: improving functionality; highlighting services and providers; and promoting upcoming events and lectures in appropriate areas of the website.
  • Works with media relations team, social media manager and others as appropriate to amplify marketing through integrated marketing strategies.
  • Responsible for creation of annual physician referral guide and other materials that represent all CPMPs and other practices within the Stony Brook network.
  • Keep updated with digital marketing trends in order to identify new opportunities and initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with concentration in Marketing, Journalism or Communications or related field
  • Five years of marketing experience in either an agency or corporate setting
  • Must have strong writing, editing and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Must have a strong understanding of branding and brand management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Must have working knowledge of InDesign

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare marketing a plus
  • Ability to post content to website
  • Working knowledge of email distribution platforms such as Open Moves, Constant Contact
  • Experience with marketing automation
  • Experience with web platforms such as Google Analytics, Salesforce, Eventbrite, Survey Monkey, Hootsuite, Google AdWords, etc

Three writing samples required at the time of application, ideally, all elements of one campaign, along with explanation.

A writing test will be required at second stage of the interview.

  • Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke free environment. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas on the premises.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 5 panel drug screen*
  • Successfully complete a Background Check investigation.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

* The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.
