The Email Marketing Manager uses hers/his skills as a marketing professional to improve top- and middle-of-funnel communication with prospective students. An experienced email copy writer, the incumbent knows how to develop personalized, persuasive content that appeals to prospects and builds a preference for Berkeley Haas. S/he will design and setup automated email workflows to engage prospects at various times with the right messaging.
The incumbent understands the technological and behavior elements behind email metrics, and how to improve delivery, open and click through rates. S/he will be able to develop marketing dashboards and KPIs to investigate and report on email campaign effectiveness. In addition, the incumbent understands the importance of testing out various messaging through A/B email sends in order to improve email metrics.

Responsibilities
  • Meets and consults with clients on a variety of electronic communications projects including moderately complex assignments, and develops, presents, and recommends web content and visual material.
    • Works with management and MBA Admissions to create, develop, and implement short- and long-term strategic email marketing plans that engage and nurture prospective students through the customer journey.
    • Works closely with colleagues on the Haas Marketing and Communications team and MBA Admissions to write and deploy segmented, personalized email campaigns (including diverse populations) that increase prospective student engagement with Berkeley Haas degree programs.
  • Develop, update and distribute email reporting that tracks KPIs and business metrics on a regular basis to uncover actionable trends and insights. Develop and execute A/B tests and monitor results to improve and optimize future campaigns.
  • Maintains currency with emerging and state-of-the-art technical and other web-related equipment, requirements and developments (for example, accessibility issues) and recommends and as directed, takes action to ensure compliance.
    • Keep up-to-date with the evolving email marketing best practices to ensure high message deliverability and template compatibility with email service providers.
    • Partner with lead conversion and web teams to develop email acquisition tactics.
    • Responsible for email list health management to ensure consistent lead engagement and email deliverability.
  • Accountable for ensuring technical accuracy and understandability of web content.
    • Maintains Berkeley Haas brand across all programs, campaigns and projects.
    • Helps to develop Haas School policies, style guides and standards in all marketing material.

    • Attend classes to enhance expertise in job areas and improve communication.
    • Attend relevant campus training courses or classes to gain knowledge of or to become more proficient with campus policies and/or role-relevant skills.
    • Seek additional training opportunities that allow growth within the position and to develop professionally.

Required Qualifications
  • Experienced in email marketing techniques that improve open rate and engagement.
  • Thorough knowledge of different tactics for top and mid-funnel executions.
  • Demonstrated experience developing effective content that appeals to diverse populations- including historically marginalized communities.
  • Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, grammar, syntax, editorial style, and punctuation, including skill to write in a clear and lively style.
  • Thorough understanding of technical language and requirements of the assigned work.
  • Thorough knowledge of content management systems and/or relevant web applications used for email distribution, and campus-specific computer application programs.
  • Thorough technical skills in computer applications for email production, workflow development, image handling, publishing and design, illustration, presentation preparation, animation, web interaction, and/or other state-of-the-art web communication capabilities.
  • Thorough interpersonal communication skills.
  • Thorough skills to develop and implement original ideas and correctly identify and effectively solve problems.
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in email or content marketing.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated marketing experience within a university setting and/or having worked with stakeholders within the higher education industry.
  • Thorough understanding of organization's processes, procedures, and applicable rules and regulations for web communications.
  • HubSpot Inbound Certification.

Salary & Benefits

This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary will be commensurate with experience up to $98,900.00.
