Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Marketing Design, under the direction of the Director of Creatives Services is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing content design and creation, visual brand identity, and production aspects for a wide variety of print, digital/web, social media, and outdoor advertising projects that support University strategic and integrated marketing and branding initiatives. Essential Duties: Develops concepts, designs, publications, advertisements (for both print and web), environmental graphics, social media graphics and website graphics. Participates in design critiques by presenting work for approval, capturing feedback, and revising to deliver an approved solution on-time and on-budget. Assists the Creative Director in creating and concepting original marketing direction, messaging, look, and production of marketing materials. Translates marketing goals into tangible design solutions throughout the overall campaign and in the various deliverable mediums. Works closely with the department's editorial/copywriting team, web/online communications, multi-media and social media teams to coordinate, align and integrate affiliated publications, branded campaigns, and departmental resources into coordinated marketing communications. Works closely with University photographers. Enhances and manipulates images for optimum results and ensures quality control at every stage of marketing project development and proofing. Assists with coordination and direction of photo shoots and illustration as requested. Adheres to and monitors marketing project deadlines, procedures, and budgets. Works directly with senior administrators, faculty, and staff, as necessary, in order to ensure accuracy, relevance, and appropriateness of design concepts and materials. Secures approvals and maintains documentation, as necessary. Reports progress and status of projects at expected times to customers and department managers. Maintains detailed and accurate project records. Assists with maintaining departmental photographic and electronic file libraries and archives, and the creation and maintenance of departmental electronic print project files and resources into organized libraries and archives in accordance with design studio guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in graphic design, creative design, marketing design, communications or related field, or related equivalent work experience. Five (5) years of relevant graphic design or related experience, supported by a portfolio of design samples, as requested. Demonstrated high-level proficiency in print, web, social, and multimedia design software applications, such as Adobe Creative Suite. Background in graphic design, creative design, marketing design or similar fields. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree, preferably in graphic design, creative design, marketing design, communications or related field, or related equivalent work experience. Experience in an advertising, graphic design or marketing agency. Experience in developing successful, high-quality, results-driven communications and marketing materials. Experience with template software (e.g. like Lucid Press). Experience with motion graphics. Experience working with higher education institutions clients. Multi-media skills, such as online publishing, social media, video, online photo presentation, etc. Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams.
