St. Paul’s School’s Director of Communications and Marketing (DCM) will serve an important leadership role in support of the new head of school’s strategic initiatives. The School seeks a dynamic, experienced DCM to represent the School accurately, transparently, and positively across multiple constituencies and communications platforms.  In a rapidly changing media environment, the DCM will establish and maintain credibility with local, regional, and national media contacts; oversee the School’s print, on-line, media, and social media presence; work with colleagues to develop appropriate marketing and communications strategies; and support the work of all the School’s departments in representing, both internally and externally, the strength of student experience at SPS.

Founded in 1856, St. Paul’s School is a coeducational, highly academic, fully residential boarding school for students in grades 9 through 12 located in Concord, NH on a 2,000-acre campus. Offering a rigorous, values-based education, the School unites a diverse and inclusive learning community of approximately 530 students and 330 faculty and staff members to create an extended family that respects and nurtures scholarship, spirituality, and citizenship in service to a greater good. The new Rector (Head of School) joined the School in 2019, and under her leadership the School is poised for continued and expanded success as one of the nation’s premier boarding schools.

Reporting directly to the Rector, the DCM will be an integral member of the senior administrative leadership team. Working closely and collaboratively with that team, and across all departments, the DCM will develop and implement an integrated messaging strategy for the School – a strategy designed to elevate the School’s visibility and to reflect and advance its mission, principles, operating values, strategic plan, campaign goals, and enrollment objectives. The DCM will serve as the point-person for all external communication.  The DCM and the DCM’s team will design clear and effective communications that invite all constituents to understand and appreciate the St. Paul’s School experience, while ensuring brand identity, messaging coherence, and consistency across all channels and media.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for working with the entire community, including students, to tell the School’s story, while being flexible and responsive to changing demands.  The role requires a Director who will be nimble and creative in addressing different constituents and skilled at building relationships, strategic consensus, and clear and effective communication across different platforms. Candidates should have at least 10 years of progressively responsible communications and marketing expertise and at least 5 years supervisory experience. This is an opportunity for a self-starter with demonstrated initiative, creativity and problem-solving skills – a team player who will contribute meaningfully to the School’s continued success at both the planning and executional levels.

Candidates should send a cover letter detailing why this position is of particular interest, along with a resume, to Debbie Andrews at deborahtandrews@comcast.net
