Environmental Dynamics International (EDI) is located in Columbia MO. Reporting to the General Manager, the Marketing Manager serves a vital role in a staff position providing effective Global management of the Advertising, Promotion, Public Relations, and Market Research activities for the company. In addition to managing these specific areas, the Marketing Manager plays a key role in the development, implementation and maintenance of Marketing and Sales Objectives, Strategies and Action Plans. As a major Global company, the position requires both Domestic and International marketing expertise.
There are key areas of marketing responsibilities at EDI that require special focus. These are due to industry practices and the sales growth that EDI continues to experience. Although some will be done by marketing department staff, the Marketing Manager has overall responsibility for all of the following key areas.
Strategic Planning – EDI is an aggressive company that is constantly evaluating the best way to serve the end users, both Municipal and Industrial. The Marketing Manager will define goals and objectives; develop marketing strategies through print media, e-mail campaigns, social media outlets for Aftermarket sales; develop marketing strategies for the new product introductions like the polishing filter, large bubble mixes, SMART system, etc.
Marketing Program Development – Will work with the Chief Innovation Officer to develop the marketing program for Symphony – (a suite of offerings including equipment, service, maintenance, and controls to optimize the energy consumption and performance of wastewater treatment plants);], develop the tools to be used by sales personnel to train representatives, and schedule presentations for trade shows to educate the market on the program and other market innovations.
Case Studies – Will serve as an integral part of the promotional efforts at EDI. Case Studies are used significantly in the industry to support sales functions; and serve as both a reference point as well as a testimonial for EDI. The Marketing Manager will oversee all preparation of Case Studies, a key output of the Marketing Department.
Securing of Client References – Will oversee obtaining client references, which are used much the same as a Case Study, except they are based on an individual (and not the project). References go hand-in-hand but require constant review.
Responsible for researching the market and competitive strategies regarding sales force organizations and make recommendations about how EDI ought to change its structure.
Will engage the sales workforce to utilize all possible methodologies for leads and eventual sales. This includes directly addressing the sales staff with presentations in sales meetings, prior to and following trade shows and electronically on an on-going basis.
Advertising/Promotion Plan – although not generally different than for other industry applications, defining of the message and identification of the targeted market with select appropriate media for a rifle approach are essential. The Marketing Manager will serve as the key driver of these plans and development of same.
Global and Domestic Trade Shows – these can have particular importance especially for the Global markets served by EDI. The Marketing Manager will oversee and develop display materials and promotional themes that can have multi-country applications and can significantly increase their effectiveness. Percentage of travel domestically is around 5%. International travel to IFAT may occur.
On-line and Social media – Use of online resources to enhance the EDI Website such as Email marketing and virtual trade shows, and social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and others need to be constantly reviewed, updated and incorporated in a Communications Plan. Application for representative communications is also key. The Marketing Manager will oversee and analyze the effectiveness of the various media campaigns and develop alternate strategies based upon the data received.
Team Leadership – Will lead the EDI teams in Asia, Europe and India, mirroring the EDI headquarters campaigns.
Customer Feedback – Will oversee and direct all communications with the Service Department to develop more customer feedback regarding EDI systems, service, products, personnel effectiveness, etc.
Market Research – As a Global company, EDI needs to keep the “pulse” of all the markets they serve and monitor the effectiveness of implemented Marketing Plans. The Marketing Manager will be responsible for all market research performed by the Marketing Department.
Supervisory Responsibility – Located in a University community, EDI has access to academic resources from Colleges and University. Recruiting and managing Interns can significantly impact the effectiveness of the Marketing Department, particularly with market research, Public Relations, and language issues. The Marketing Manager will be tasked with developing key contacts for sourcing interns, recruitment of same, and supervisory direction of their service to EDI during their internship.
Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, marketing, or related degree plus minimum 3 years equivalent professional marketing experience. Preference given to candidates with Wastewater Industry background. Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
Extensive experience in all aspects of developing and maintaining marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives.
Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
Proven ability to oversee all marketing, advertising and promotional staff and activities.
Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task and establish priorities within tight timelines.
Ability to evaluate given business-related situations and articulate problem-solving solutions.
Understanding of branding principles and tactics supported by multimedia including electronic digital applications.
Experienced in implementing market research projects to meet specific identified needs.
Global thinking that includes basic understanding of international as well as domestic business practices.
Experience with digital marketing strategies preferred.

Manage – all marketing, advertising and promotional staff and activities. Will supervise internal staff and manage external vendors who provide services to the Marketing Department.
Develop – Global marketing plans with strategies and action plans for identified goals.
Prepare and Administer – marketing department budget for all planned activities.
Determine and Report – key performance metrics for the department as well as individual staff members.
Maintain – awareness of the competitive situation within the industry and factors that affect international sales.
