SUMMARY  

 

The National Association of Manufacturers has built a reputation as one of the most influential advocacy groups in the country, with members that include many of the globe’s most recognizable brands. We’re seeking a hands-on, data-driven, digital-native marketing strategist who is able to connect the dots and drive an enterprise-level approach to strategic marketing and industry-leading marketing campaigns, push our messaging, develop compelling marketing content and collateral and optimize audience journeys for leads, conversion and revenue—plus, stand out as a respected, fun, go-to team member. Our ideal candidate is an effective and compelling writer and account manager, with a reputation for finding creative solutions to opportunities and challenges, asking challenging questions and working on a variety of projects in a culture of collaboration.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Lead and manage the planning, coordination and implementation of marketing campaigns to foster increased awareness, understanding and support for the NAM’s mission, vision, accomplishments, products, services and sub-brands among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Draft marketing campaigns—spanning all paid, earned and owned channels—for the NAM and its sub-brands to increase the visibility of the organization and grow audiences.
  • Draft a wide range of marketing copy, including emails, social media posts, website content, collateral and presentations.
  • Create and optimize website forms that help achieve business goals.
  • Provide counsel to the team and collaborate on building a best-in-class, multichannel marketing strategy.
  • Work closely with other NAM divisions and team members, including in sales and membership, The Manufacturing Institute, the Manufacturing Leadership Council, legal, business operations, advocacy and government relations, to build marketing plans that help them advance their strategic priorities.
  • Lead internal socialization of strategic marketing plans to empower team members at all levels of the organization to be marketers for the NAM.
  • Work with other leaders to ensure marketing campaigns are rolled out on time and on budget.
  • Help team members troubleshoot marketing challenges.
  • Manage a direct report in addition to agencies and consultants.
  • Obtain and help compile marketing results/metrics as needed, tracking analysis and implementing relevant tagging protocol and using results to inform future marketing decisions.
  • Ensure the highest level of quality and that commitments and goals are met.
  • Find creative solutions to marketing needs that can be accomplished within a budget and timeline.
  • Identify and bring translatable marketing strategy best practices.
  • Display agility in balancing short-notice requests with longer-term projects. Meet stringent deadlines.
  • Understand nuance of tone and objectives for all communications.
  • Be familiar with a variety of new media platforms.
  • Thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDES THE NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED AND THE NATURE OF THE SUPERVISION): 1

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 4–7+ years of marketing strategy leadership experience
  • Experience developing and executing marketing plans across channels
  • Solid understanding of contemporary approaches to brand stewardship
  • Experience working in content management systems like WordPress, email marketing platforms like Salesforce Marketing Cloud, social media scheduling tools like Sprout Social, project management tools like Asana and other marketing technology
  • Knowledge of digital, traditional and event marketing and advertising best practices as well as an eagerness to stay abreast of new technologies and trends
  • Demonstrated ability to make successful presentations to individuals and/or groups at all organization levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills—i.e., the ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders at all organization levels and help guide process.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication (both written and spoken) and project management skills with the ability operate with energy and flexibility.
  • Experience that demonstrates excellent proofing, editing and quality assurance skills across platforms.
  • Self-starter with strong time management, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple high-profile relationships in a fast-paced environment.
  • Can manage stressful situations in a solutions-oriented way with a positive attitude.
  • Functions effectively, both independently and as a member of a team, with a willingness to assist with routine and last-minute projects.
  • Significant experience preparing a variety of written materials of varying topics and styles and for diverse audiences.
  • Basic knowledge of design, layout and publishing principles within digital tools.
  • Desire to make an impact and take the NAM brand to its highest level of success yet.

 

LOCATION

Washington, DC preferred. The organization is all remote for the foreseeable future.
