Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Engagement/Chief Marketing Officer, the DCMO will be a member of the Associate Vice President/CMO’s senior leadership group, and will lead the marketing, creative services, and digital strategy teams. Working collaboratively with the Associate Vice President/CMO and other members of the leadership team, the DCMO will direct brand stewardship, marketing resource allocation, advertising, campaign analytics, and budget management. The ideal candidate will be both highly creative and highly analytical, with the ability to make and support data-driven decisions.
Specific job responsibilities include: ● Directly supervise five marketing, creative services, and digital strategy staff (17 total direct and indirect reports); ● Develop institutional and enrollment marketing plans; ● Direct institutional and enrollment advertising, including creative development, media buying, and evaluation; ● Manage a $1.9M budget ● Work closely with enrollment-focused marketers across the campus, external vendors, and media partners. ● Serve as primary marketing contact for Vice Presidents and Deans; ● Serve as project management lead for major brand-building, reputation-building projects; ● Serve as lead steward of UMBC brand, including shaping future expression of brand; ● Responsible for alignment of all UMBC marketing content with institutional brand standards; ● Recommend allocation of institutional advertising budget and makes day-to-day decisions necessary to execute marketing plans; ● Make independent decisions about vendors and media partners required to execute marketing plans; ● Consult regularly with key enrollment management partners, Deans and Vice Presidents; ● Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
● A bachelor’s degree is required ● Seven years of marketing experience is required, with experience in higher education preferred. ● Strong demonstrated marketing analytics skills and extensive knowledge of digital marketing in CRM (Salesforce platform preferred). ● Deep experience in advertising campaign development and media buying. ● Excellent writing and editing skills are crucial. ● The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial university environment.
Masters degree is preferred.
