The Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Director of Marketing & Communications. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.
This position has primary responsibility and accountability for planning and managing the day-to-day marketing and communications of the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine to increase public and private awareness, build relations with external stakeholders, increase financial support of the College's mission, and attract high quality students. The incumbent reports to the Dean. This position helps develop long- and short-term marketing and communication plans for the College and collaborates with others around a strategic vision to ensure a comprehensive marketing communication program that serves University and College interests through an integrated marketing and communications model. The incumbent consults with the Directors of the Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and Veterinary Teaching Hospital and others to set marketing and communication goals for units in the College. This position works with College leaders to decide on the scope of projects based on resources, priorities and costs. The incumbent manages the public relations budget. This position is a member of the University's Brand Manager committee and assists in developing and enforcing new and existing guidelines for the university and the College. This role is responsible for researching, writing, designing and/or producing electronic and print- based communication publications of the College including marketing collateral, recruitment materials, newsletters, videos, social media, advertising, and event displays.
This position hires and supervises external contractors including video production, photography, and web development. This position serves as the web master for the college, including training and supervising unit staff to update sub sites.
Typically requires Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field. 3 years’ experience related to the discipline of the college, unit or department.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills including copy writing and editing.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
