Boston University's Editorial department is looking for an experienced, flexible Multiplatform and Copy Editor with uncompromising standards and outstanding attention to detail who will be responsible for reviewing and proofreading three strategically important University publications. As a member of the editorial team, the Multiplatform Editor will need to shift priorities to accommodate urgent deadlines while maintaining unfailing accuracy. The role demands an awareness of larger-scope issues of sense, logic, factual accuracy, and adherence to University style guidelines while maintaining steady focus on smaller-scope issues like grammar, consistency, and layout discrepancies. At all stages of the production process, the role collaborates with a creative team of editors and writers on high-visibility, top-priority projects at Boston University. This position requires rare, but occasional evening and weekend work on breaking stories, as situations dictate.
BA/BS and three to five years of related experience, with strong communication and time-management skills, and ability to juggle multiple tasks under deadline. Knowledge of, and experience in, WordPress and Google Docs essential. Familiarity with InCopy and project-management tools, such as Trello and Slack, a plus. Expertise with Chicago Manual Style preferred. Must be able to work under pressure with multiple, conflicting priorities. Position requires occasional evening and weekend work on breaking stories, as situations dictate. Outstanding attention to detail. Must have a proactive, problem-solving approach to all editing projects. Adaptable to shifting priorities and responsive in accommodating urgent deadlines while maintaining unfailing accuracy and attention to detail.
