Building on the success of our enrollment growth and award-winning marketing achievements, the Chief Marketing & Communications Strategist is a high-profile position responsible for driving go-to-market, top-level strategic direction of the University's branding, communications, content marketing, and social media efforts. The Chief Marketing & Communications Strategist joins a University an ongoing successful renaissance of its campus offerings, student, alumni, and community outreach, and brand initiatives. The Chief Strategist will be a critical part of the campus leadership team that successfully implements WCU's strategic plan, 2020 Vision: Focusing Our Future (http://strategicplan.wcu.edu). This position will report directly to the University's Chief of Staff and will hold a seat on the Chancellor's Leadership Council.
WCU's new strategic plan requires the Chief Marketing & Communications Strategist to design, develop, and manage a comprehensive integrated marketing communications plan which will coordinate marketing- and communications-related activities across the University community. Goals include ensuring consistency in positioning, branding, messaging, and promotions with economy and efficiency toward various diverse constituents and target markets. The Chief Strategist must bring a strong and proven vision and executive management skill set for integrated marketing in complex organizations and markets across a diverse spectrum of stakeholders. The integrated marketing communications plan must include environmental and competitive analyses, market research, objectives and strategic direction, appropriate metrics, budget proposal, and tactical plan (i.e., advertising, promotions, online/web/social media, and communications). This plan must interpret the institution's mission and strategic priorities to multiple audiences, internal and external, while defining and leveraging the University's distinctiveness, achievements, and key initiatives.
