The Marketing Communications Manager will build and maintain a marketing communications operation for a small osteopathic Foundation in Chicago; balance and manage multiple priorities; lead and effect change in a dynamic and complex environment; promote excellence across the team's diverse functions, talent, and technical skills; establish the foundation for a dynamic environment that embraces creativity and innovation; and foster a spirit of teamwork and progressive thinking in order to guide the foundation on a path towards growth in donations, collaborations, and reputation.
This individual will plan and oversee communication strategies that promote AOF, osteopathic medicine, and/or the AOF’s services via various communication mediums. Work with AOF development and programs staff, as well as with public relations professionals across the profession. Develop and assist in the distribution of positive messages about the AOF to internal and external audiences including donors, prospective donors and other important constituencies and stakeholders. Build and guide strategy execution for all communications, website, and public relations messages collateral to consistently articulate and strengthen the AOF’s mission and brand.
Work with AOF senior leadership team to develop and implement the annual communication plan and serve as the primary source/point of contact of AOF content. Initiate strategic communications in alignment with and support of fundraising goals. Generate fundraising and interpretive materials for specific audiences, including content for appeal and thank-you letters and other donor communications. (20%)
Oversee the development, distribution, and maintenance of all collateral, print and electronic, including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, annual report, social media, and the AOF website. Review, write and/or provide content to ensure communication is accurate, message is consistent, and aligns with AOF communication strategy. (20%)
Work with development team to promote, highlight and recognize constituent’s pre, during and post the annual Honors Gala. (10%)
Develop presentations and talking points for Board members, volunteers, CEO and team. (15%)
Ensure website and all social media outlets are current and relevant. This includes new stories, links, videos, and photos are posted regularly. (15%)
Track and measure the level of recipient engagement over time. Utilize Google Analytics, Facebook Analytics, etc. to identify performance tools and metrics and use to assess progress, guide and enhance communications strategies. Monitor trends/missed opportunities and recommend changes to communication plan. (5%)
Track and monitor all AOF collateral to ensure all is up to date, relevant, cohesive, and in stock, particularly ahead of meetings and events. (5%)
Ensure all outside web content has correct and up to date information (ie: Charity Navigator, AOA intranet, Guidestar, etc). (5%)
Serve as staff liaison to Marketing Committee (agenda and meeting material preparation, draft and distribute meeting minutes; create presentations for board meeting updates) and ensure strategic pillars, goals and objectives are being advanced through the aforementioned activities/outlets. (5%)

Education / Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, marketing or related discipline required. Master’s degree preferred
A minimum of five years relevant experience including leadership in communications and/or marketing. Health care experience a plus.
Knowledge of charitable programming, fundraising and marketing principles, practices and techniques is preferred.
Exceptional skill in written and oral communications, including business writing, news writing/editing for print and broadcast, conversing by telephone and conducting presentations to large or small groups.
Strong working knowledge of Associated Press (AP) writing style.
Experience in publications editing and communicating through social media.
Proven ability to write in various forms, including newswriting and promotional writing.
Proven ability to manage multiple programs and projects with competing deadlines needed.
Strong working knowledge of marketing communications required.
Strong experience in developing and executing effective communications strategies.
Polished interpersonal and persuasive skills needed, especially the ability to develop relationships both internally and externally.
Strong customer/client service skills.
Skilled at performing in a team environment as well as being a strong individual contributor.
Occasional travel required.
