Berkeley's Lawrence Hall of Sciencethe country's only science center that is part of a top-tier, public research university. Under direct supervision, learns to use basic marketing and/or sales concepts and assists in marketing and/or sales activities as assigned.
Learns and assists in implementing marketing plans, strategies, sales, merchandising and/or events.
Supervises students working the store, and cafe, and serves as on-site front line retail sales supervisor two days per week and assigned special events and holidays and coordinates.
Contributes to training of student retail clerks to ensures good customer service through answering questions, providing information, explaining products and services, and resolving noncomplex problems.
Learns about market research and drafts sales & marketing reports.
Maintains e-commerce platform for online Discovery Corner Toy and Book Store.
Posts & markets new items, and removes items that are no longer selling or are out of print. Conducts same research and reporting functions for Bay View Cafe.
Provides ongoing customer service and fulfillment coordination for Discovery Corner Store.
Receives orders, maintains customer accounts, and oversees shipping and mailing of store orders.
Creates and maintains marketing and/or sales files, records, calendars, inventory logs and other related documents.
Tracks inventory based on established frameworks, prepares orders and assists with research for potential new products.
Assist in account reconciliation as assigned.
Good organizational skills.
Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Basic knowledge of marketing principles, strategies, techniques and practices.
Basic knowledge of the campus, including its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
Basic knowledge of marketing principles and/or experience conducting market research.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training in retail sales & marketing.
Salary & Benefits
This position is a non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position. Hourly pay for this role is commensurate with experience within the range $22.08 - $31.70
