Appointment: The University of Puget Sound seeks a full-time, tenure-line Assistant or Associate Professor of Marketing to join the School of Business and Leadership in Fall 2020. The School of Business and Leadership teaches business from a Liberal Arts perspective to undergraduates in classes of 10-25 students.

Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be strongly committed to teaching undergraduates in a manner that promotes critical thinking, effective written and oral communication, and problem solving. The faculty hired will have primary responsibility for teaching the introductory marketing course and at least two marketing electives per year. Ability to teach the introductory course from an international or global perspective is essential. Preferred areas for the elective courses include marketing communications, consumer behavior, market research, marketing strategy, and marketing analytics. The standard teaching load is three courses per semester. Other duties include continuation of professional development, advising students, and participation in departmental and university governance.

The School of Business and Leadership at the University of Puget Sound provides our students with an innovative business education that prepares them for success as leaders in a complex and dynamic global environment.

  • teaching business fundamentals in a program strongly embedded in the Liberal Arts.
  • offering a core curriculum that focuses on management, marketing, finance, accounting, law, and ethics.
  • emphasizing critical thinking, effective written and oral communication, insightful problem solving, thorough case analysis, and sound research methods.
  • offering majors in business administration, international business, and the Business Leadership Program.
  • promoting off-campus experiences including internships, mentoring, international work and study abroad, field research and experiential learning.
  • striving for faculty excellence in teaching, advising, professional development, and University and community service.

By executing its mission, the School strengthens its ties to other academic units on campus, and helps to fulfill the overall mission of the university.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. (ABD considered) in marketing and a commitment to undergraduate teaching and liberal arts education.
  • Will consider Ph.D. in appropriate liberal arts disciplines related to marketing.
  • For those candidates whose doctoral degrees are in non-business disciplines, relevant work experience in the area of marketing and the possession of a Master in Business Administration degree are required.
