The Marketing and Communications team of the SC Johnson College of Business is looking for an Email Marketing Specialist to assist the Marketing Automation Manager in building communications campaigns for the College. The position works with internal and external stakeholders to create email marketing campaigns; refine communications according to best practices; purchase and upload prospect lists; design responsive HTML templates; train and support email platform contributors; and assist with the scheduling, approval and delivery of mass email sent to external constituents. The email specialist reports to the Marketing Automation Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with the build, management and execution of creative and data-driven email marketing campaigns
Develop and maintain landing pages with lead capture forms for priority campaigns
Manage and develop campaigns and workflows with internal stakeholders, internal IT, and creative teams
Coordinate external and internal writers, and liaise with internal subject matter experts
Manage scoping and purchasing prospect lists (such as standardized test-takers), and regularly import new prospects into the CRM and email platform
Manage third-party email sender service providers (external vendors and platforms) to create messaging, design email content, and plan deployment
Create user segments, targeting logic, and appropriate email sending lists based on established campaign goals
Ensure consistent Google tracking codes across all email deliverables
Manage and monitor email list health, including number of subscribers, inbox delivery, unsubscribes, opt outs and spam complaints. Work with email service provider (ESP) to resolve any issues that arise.
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field
4-6 years of relevant work experience in marketing or communications (experience in higher education technology a plus)
2-3 years hands-on, demonstrable experience working with marketing tools and analytics packages such as email marketing, web analytics, CRM. Experience with marketing automation platforms (Pardot/Salesforce, Marketo, etc.) is a plus
Experience managing email marketing campaigns, or equivalent campaign management
Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environment; work collaboratively with cross-functional teams; and ensure high-quality deliverables with high attention to detail
Strong writer, editor and communicator
Previous experience managing vendors and keeping projects on track
Demonstrated project management experience
Strong organizational skills
An understanding of landing page design and best practices
An understanding of responsive email design principles
Experience with image editing tools such as Photoshop
HTML and inline CSS coding experience highly preferred
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
