POSITION: Full-time, 12-month appointment based on funding & performance at the Crookston campus of the University of Minnesota starting July 8, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. Budgeted wage is $16.27 per hour plus an excellent fringe benefits package.
JOB SUMMARY: First level professional communications and media work in the areas of writing, copy editing, marketing, public/internal relations, and electronic communication. This position coordinates the activities of the Welcome Center for the Office of Admission and coordinates the day-to-day marketing and social media accounts of the University of Minnesota Crookston.
RESPONSIBLITIES: A) Marketing Coordinator assists the Communication Director with management of University of Minnesota Crookston social media with primary duties to include the creation, management and promotion of communication content across social media platforms. Specific responsibilities include plan strategy and assist with the management social media marketing campaigns to support enrollment management activities; manage campus podcast including developing content and hosting; manage day-to-day social media operation; develop relevant content topics to reach the target audiences on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, SnapChat, and LinkedIn; create, curate, and manage all published content including images, video and written within social media platforms; manage the social media budget to help encourage engagement including give-away items, etc., for both current and prospective students; and work with social media managers across campuses when it makes sense and compiles social media reports. B) Welcome Center Coordinator works with the Director of Enrollment Management as the primary source of customer service to all Office of Admission campus guests. The position ensures that each student’s visit to campus is memorable, personal, informative and an authentic introduction to the University of Minnesota Crookston. Specific responsibilities include create a student-friendly environment and provide the highest level of customer service possible to campus visitors; provide admission guests information regarding programs, resources, maps & directions and services; check-in guests, assign guests to tours and oversee punctual tour and visit experience departures/start times; ensure Welcome Center is presentable, clean and representative of University of Minnesota Crookston; maintain the physical space of the Welcome Center including but not limited to: re-stocking admission collateral, rearranging furniture for visit needs, ensuring digital media content is playing; inform Admission counselors daily regarding tour information sessions and any other admission visit needs; and respond to phone and email inquiries as they relate to Admission guests for campus visit experiences. Direct inquiries to admissions and follow up with families about their visit experience when necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, English, Art, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field, or a total of four years combined equivalent education and relevant full-time work experience; and authorized to work in the United States at the University of Minnesota. Final offer contingent on successful background check and receipt of official transcripts.
PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS: Strong writing and editing skills across platforms using varied formats communicating with diverse populations and constituencies; proven strength in social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat, and YouTube; demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments, establish priorities and meet deadlines; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with flexibility and adaptability to changing deadlines and urgent priorities; results-oriented mindset with the ability to work both independently and as a team member; ability to work both proactively and reactively to situations regarding campus visit experiences; strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with diverse individuals and groups at all organizational levels, both inside and outside of the University; attention to detail, with the ability to organize, prioritize and be self-directed in handling multiple projects; effective interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate and work with students; and strong technical skills to learn and use enterprise systems and other databases needed for the position, including Slate and PeopleSoft.
