The Alumni Marketing & Communications office (AM&C) at Harvard Business School is seeking an Assistant Director of email marketing to drive and nurture the organization's evolving marketing automation and strategy to more effectively advance the mission of External Relations at the School.
This full-time exempt position will be responsible for the email marketing strategy across External Relations at Harvard Business School. Incumbent will be specifically responsible for setting the strategy for e-mail marketing to alumni from External Relations and partners across the School, overseeing and providing project management of email marketing campaigns from conception through implementation, aligning with ER's overall marketing strategy, email creative development, customer segmentation, personalization, automation, and messaging, scheduling and deliverability, campaign analysis, A/B test strategies and new campaign recommendations.
This is a key role that will work with business partners to maximize email campaigns that leverage Salesforce Marketing Cloud and CVENT functionality, data, and audience research to create communications that help support alumni, donor, and prospect engagement.
The position requires a good command of leadership and team building skills, operational skills, and a high level of organization, professionalism and familiarity with the people and objectives of HBS External Relations.
Incumbent will manage Email Marketing Coordinator and will report to Director, Digital Communications.
Incumbent will craft e-mail marketing strategies, in coordination with multichannel marketing strategies that may include print, web, mobile app, or social media, and in collaboration with colleagues in AM&C, ER, and across the School.
Will work with partners in External Relations and across the School to align their e-mail marketing plans and needs with Alumni Marketing & Communications' e-mail marketing strategy and resources and overall alumni marketing strategy.
Will be responsible for creating and developing in-house expert knowledge of email marketing best practices for optimal delivery and performance, broadcast email software, subscription management in an alumni setting.
Incumbent will ensure compliance of all appropriate internal data policies and national and international data privacy and email/SPAM laws.
Additionally, incumbent will apply knowledge and provide technical consultation and training to External Relations staff in basic e-mail marketing, list selection, use of broadcast email software.
Incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a complex alumni e-mail calendar to achieve balance of alumni needs and desires with department's and School's needs.
