We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to join the Marketing &
Communications division. In this dynamic and challenging role, you will be responsible for leading the development efforts for the university's most visible web publishing platforms and related technologies, including the university's enterprise Content Management System (CMS). You should be motivated, creative, and an efficient technical lead and people-manager who has a passion for steering development teams to build user-centered applications with tremendous impact.
Working with the Director of Online Strategy, you will act as the deputy director, filling in to manage the online strategy group at times. You will also be the point-of-contact with the university's IT organization, Computing Services, as well as numerous teams within the Marketing and Communications division and across the university.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Work alongside director to strategize, envision, architect and implement all aspects of the University's CMS platforms, from the applications themselves to the infrastructure, systems, support models and policies that ensure they remain stable, modern and user-centered;
Lead and inspire a talented team of front-end, full-stack and UX developers;
Serve as primary technical architect for CMS applications, on-premise hosting infrastructure and related technologies;
Work with the technical team to create innovative DevOps processes that enable iterative development and continuous integration;
Balance innovation and risk at enterprise scale, with the users in mind;
Communicate with users, internal and external partners, technical resources, leadership and thought leaders to craft a CMS program that is a model of flexibility, innovation and thoughtfulness;
Develop software design descriptions, project plans and other strategy and engineering documents; and
Directly manage vendors and budgets; act as managing director as needed.

Bachelor's degree required; combination of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum ten years of experience in technical project/program/product management, technical architecture, website development or related field.
Advanced knowledge of current CMS and web application technologies, including knowledge of the enterprise content management system market inside and outside of higher education.
Deep knowledge of Drupal as an application development framework strongly preferred; LAMP, Varnish, Redis, Memcached, CMS experience helpful.
Strong familiarity with automated testing, continuous integration and Git (Gitlab experience is a plus).
Experience with support, training and maintenance processes: designing and implementing them, and knowledge of how they are integral to the success of the application and the program as a whole.
