Department/College Description The Division of Development and Alumni Relations is dedicated to advancing the mission and vision of RIT. Strategically critical to achieving the universitys goals, the Division of Development and Alumni Relations nurtures lifelong, mutually beneficial relationships with alumni, parents, friends, faculty/staff and organizations resulting in deeper connections, greater volunteer engagement and increased philanthropic support. We are a team-oriented, highly collaborative Division working with all areas of the university to maximize fundraising opportunities and alumni involvement.
Detailed Job Description Responsible for executing digital marketing initiatives, digital projects, and campaigns in a technology-grounded marketing environment, in support of efforts to meet engagement, fundraising, and stewardship goals. Serves as the administrator and super user for systems that include email marketing, client databases, content management, enterprise project management, custom-developed user-facing APIs, and will play a role in selecting and implementing future marketing-focused systems such as CMS and marketing automation. Working with other key divisional positions, this position will administer the Development and Alumni Relations web pages and drive constituent engagement through coordinated email, social media and other marketing channels, in a complex, multi-constituent environment.
Build, execute, test and assess email campaigns.
Understand cross-browser compatibilities and web functionalities, and research web trends.
Test all email templates, links, and code to ensure correct rendering of all emails in all clients, in addition to lists segmentation, journey maps, and automation rules.
Plan, coordinate, build, and assess e-newsletters for several affinity audiences.
Oversee social media strategy, and coordinate social media plan execution in collaboration with division colleagues. Develop strategies for currently unused or underused channels. Investigate and research social media tools for use trends and appropriate inclusion in division strategy. Serve as divisional representative on university social media working group.
Take lead in data analytics of digital marketing for informed decision making and marketing planning:
Maintain cross-domain Google Analytics tracking capabilities for enhanced attribution and conversion metrics for report aggregation tools.
Leverage Google Tag Manager for analytics tracking and website personalization.
Gather and assess social media metrics across channels.
Assess email analytics for effectiveness of campaigns.
Serve a consultative role in recommending best practices in digital marketing to program managers, including strong email subject lines, audience segmentation, mobile-first email structure, social media use, and data-driven decision making. Make recommendations to improve content in all digital media. Create content where appropriate and needed.
Set up, promote, and host alumni relations webinar series.
Develop and deliver divisional training of all marketing systems.
Serve as subject matter expert on marketing technology, including current systems capabilities and future systems planning. Advise management on systems and process improvements. Act as primary liaison with marketing technology vendors to resolve issues, increase effective capabilities, and ensure divisional and university needs are met.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree required; education that combines marketing and computer science or web development is ideal.
3-5 years of demonstrated digital marketing or marketing technology expertise; broadcast email marketing, web design and development experience required. Marketing automation system administration a plus.
Demonstrated experience with Google Tracking/UTMs, CMS, expertise with social listening tools, social media and email data analysis, and web traffic analysis. Experience with CRMs and marketing automation tools a plus.
Excellent project management skills to plan, execute, and assess project progress, as well as data analytics for informed decision-making and assessment of ROI.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Demonstrated experience working in a complex, multi-constituent work environment.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat. Have used FTP clients such as FileZilla or WinSCP. Worked with code editor software such as Brackets or Dreamweaver.
