This position in UCI Applied Innovation (AI) involves marketing and communications with strong writing skills, familiarity with digital marketing platforms, and ability to communicate to a diverse and large stakeholder group.
Under the supervision of the Editor-in-Chief and Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Writer will be focused on writing compelling copy for marketing materials used to support UCI innovation, licensing and general industry engagement efforts, including writing engaging stories about UCI inventions, inventors, entrepreneurs and other businesses/people involved in the AI ecosystem internal and external audiences using both print and digital platforms. As the primary point of contact for startups, the Marketing and Communications Writer will be responsible for tracking down potential stories and cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with the Wayfinder teams.
Duties also include optimizing social media posts (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram), and incorporating pictures and videos into the posts.
Responsibilities of the position include project management of written content creation, including building editorial calendars, work-back schedules, and project managing supporting media for written content (e.g. coordinating with photo and video resources as appropriate). The Marketing and Communications Writer will also be responsible for crafting emails and announcements target audiences to help promote Applied Innovation and those affiliated with Applied Innovation. Additionally, authored materials will be pitched to journalists or publications when appropriate, collaborating with publications and campus-wide counterparts to amplify the reach of stories.
As a key member of the UCI Applied Innovation Communications team, the Marketing and Communications Writer will gain a firm grasp of the UCI Applied Innovation brand and ensure that all content created aligns with brand voice and positioning, including latest messaging priorities. The position will also respond to media inquiries and support social media objectives.

Salary: Commensurate with experienve Total Hours: 8-5, M-F Career Position. Will need to use own vehicle to travel to local events and programs.
