The University of Akron is accepting applications for an Athletics Marketing & Promotion Coordinator position in Marketing and Promotions for the Department of Athletics.
This position will develop and implement marketing plans for assigned sports to increase attendance and enhance the fan experience. The candidate will serve as the primary marketing contact for Men’s Soccer, Swimming & Diving, Track & Field, and Tennis, and secondary contact for Football and Men’s and Women’s Basketball. This position is responsible for developing marketing, ticketing, advertising, social media and promotional plans for designated sports and managing the individual sports budgets. The candidate will work closely with IMG to fulfill sponsorship obligations for assigned sports. This position will also serve as the primary coordinator of Zippy’s Kids Club, assist in student marketing efforts, and serve as the main contact for donation requests. Additional responsibilities may be assigned. Position reports to the Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing and Promotions.
Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. •1 year of experience in collegiate sports marketing and demonstrated graphic design experience using the Adobe creative suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.). •Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required. •Must have good working relationships within and outside of the athletics department. •Must be able to work nights and weekends as required for events.
