Northwest University is looking for a highly qualified candidate to lead the university’s marketing efforts with a focus on enrollment and fundraising. The Director of Marketing oversees the establishment of marketing strategies that position the university as one of the leading Christian academic institutions in the Pacific Northwest, builds the university’s brand, and generates leads for enrollment.
Supervise creative professionals in the development of all marketing materials.
Ensure content and brand integration throughout all marketing materials.
Keep abreast of changes in the education space and develop new marketing strategies and team focus as needed.
Track enrollment numbers for all departments and respond with marketing strategies and creative ideas that keep the university on track to reach enrollment goals.
Propose and effectively manage a growing marketing budget to advance the marketing objectives of the university.
Partner with university department leaders to develop their annual marketing strategy.
Sell through marketing strategies and creative concepts to key internal stakeholders.
Work with the university’s senior leadership team, offering guidance in the development of communications to employees and students.
Print Publications Responsibilities:
Serve as senior manager and editor for print initiatives:
Coordinate with university departments for timely and accurate input. Maintain brand and messaging consistency between all mediums.
Northwest Passages and Pursuit: Concept themes and story ideas, conduct interviews/write stories, collect input/edit other stories, help with layout, make final edits during proofing cycles, do final checks, and ensure internal partners approve content.
In collaboration with the Marketing team, create new program brochures, newsletters, direct mail pieces, posters, postcards, and other print publications.
Update a variety of other existing print publications and supervise the updates to ancillary publications.
Digital Publication Responsibilities:
Work with marketing team members to:
Develop content updates to website that increase viewer engagement and conversions.
Optimize web pages for search (SEO).
Create engaging posts and ads for all social media platforms.
Develop display ads and landing pages that convert at high levels.
Create engaging and informative blog content based on key search terms.
Collaborate with Marketing team on other projects.
Display materials, radio advertising, email campaigns, and other projects.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required.
5+ years of demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic marketing plans. Understanding of higher education market including varied enrollment lines is helpful.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong written communication and copy development and editing skills, with experience in writing for print, web, email, and digital media.
A constant learner of generational differences and digital marketing trends, able to incorporate them into marketing efforts.
Brand management experience preferably with multiple “product lines” leveraging an overall institutional brand.
Desktop publishing experience with ability to use related software, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator; strong general computer skills in MS Suite.
A team leader who is both a self-starter who can work independently and a leader who can collaborate effectively with colleagues and motivate staff.
Ability to track, prioritize, and meet deadlines while carrying out and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously and maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
