The Auxiliary Operations Marketing and Communications Manager is the Chief Storyteller for Auxiliary Operations and will assist each unit in successfully developing creative, modern, timely, and insightful marketing plans and campaigns. The individual will ensure implementation and coordination of all marketing efforts including print, online, video, social, and other media. The person will lead the creation and implementation of dynamic plans to “Tell the Story” of Auxiliary Operations units. The Manager will take the lead on developing plans for branding, assessment, program review, and helping each department achieve our vision of being recognized for excellence through writing press releases and articles for trade publications. The position will include developing a team and supervision of student marketing and design staff and interns.
Marketing Coordination - “Tell the Story” of Auxiliary Operations units for both internal and external audiences by leading and assisting each unit in developing comprehensive marketing plans and strategies and then leading and assessing implementation of these efforts. - Fulfill the needs of all marketing details for Auxiliary Operations including branding, market research, graphic design, public relations, and marketing plan creation and implementation and program management. - Work closely with campus partners to create marketing pieces and campaigns. - Work with departmental committees and leaders to advise on their marketing needs. Ensure a cohesive voice and brand are represented. - Work with CWU Public Relations to ensure brand message is unified and within established university guidelines. - Lead and assist unit managers/directors with assessment and program reviews as directed. - Assist with the creation of focus groups and advisory committees for all relevant units. - Create and assist with seeking opportunities to have articles and stories about operations published in trade magazines. Seek out opportunities to win awards in respective trade associations through submittals and articles. - Lead and implement a comprehensive plan for benchmarking and feedback gathering to inform decision making processes - Manage a secret shopper program to evaluate program effectiveness and customer service in specific units. - Seek areas to cross market and partner with on campus organizations to maximize exposure and messaging. - Create and disseminate the annual report for Auxiliary Operations. - Create a strategy for interdepartmental communications via newsletters and other methods. - Maintain relations with internal and external customers by organizing and developing specific customer-relations programs; determining proper presence at on and off campus events that are relevant to each area. - Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Social Media and Website - Creating and maintaining a social networking presence and evaluating its effectiveness. - Plan and ensure updated website information for all units as part of the comprehensive and coordinated marketing plan. - Develop a social media presence that is engaging, educational and reflects the Auxiliary Operations vision.
Supervision and Leadership - Supervise and collaborate with student marketing and design staff and interns as appropriate. - Develop new employee onboarding plan. - Clearly define performance expectations, ensure accountability, and provide ongoing informal feedback, coaching, and mentoring. - Oversee and direct the work of staff; serve as mentor, coach and leader, and resolve complaints or issues. - Develop and foster supportive working relationships, motivation and engagement. - Recognize employees for good performance. - Schedules employee work hours/shifts; monitor hours worked; approve payable time and absence requests.

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field and 2 years’ experience OR any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Team member who has the ability to see and/or create vision and can communicate a vision for the role of auxiliary operations on campus.
Demonstrated creativity and a desire for excellence.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, exceptional traditional writing and grammatical skills, and the ability to use “social networking speak”.
Understanding of website development software and strategies.
Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and other software solutions and/or understanding and practice of design principles, software, and applications from concept to post production, and knowledge and understanding of video production..
Demonstrated ability to “Tell a Story”.
Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, MBA, or related field.
Experience working in higher education.
Experience building a marketing unit.
