Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) is seeking a Director of Marketing & Communications for the Marketing and Communications Department. Oversees all marketing activities to build awareness of the school and its programs, creates a positive image, and promotes the services of the University doctors. Serves as the liaison with the University Office of Advancement and Communications.
Formulates an overall marketing plan and strategy to achieve the school's vision and goals. Defines key audiences, vehicles, and messages to maximize impact and cost effectiveness.
Builds awareness of and brands NJMS name and identity, working with clinical department chairs, center directors, faculty and staff. Promotes programs to increase patient markets and volumes.
Plans and implements an organized public relations program that uses publications and a variety of print and electronic media to promote the school, working with school administrators, academic departments, faculty and staff.
Organizes, delivers, and assesses effectiveness of an active program of community education and outreach through community seminars, health fairs, health screenings and special events on campus and in community locations.
Prepares and executes presentations, booths and special events, at meetings and conventions, for a variety of professional organizations at the local and national levels.
Directs staff of marketing generalists, specialists and support personnel.
Represents the school on the University Marketing Council, and, with regard to purchasing and procurement of marketing-related products and services, ensuring that the needs of the school are met in awarding statewide contracts.
Acts as a resource and the primary point of contact within the school, on University policies and procedures pertaining to marketing branding.
Works with clinical affiliates and other partners to promote programs and services of mutual interest.
Provides service to other schools on campus, and promotes the school as an inter-professional health sciences campus.
Participates in and serves as a liaison with the Borough, area Chambers of Commerce and community organizations.
Promotes outstanding customer service to internal and external constituents.
Oversees the social media, digital, and online marketing strategy. Keeps current on new strategies and media to attain the schools’ image and marketing goals.
Supports the University’s goal on Workplace Diversity and EEO goals and objectives, concerning employment and promotional opportunities.
Home Location Campus: Newark (RBHS)
Knowledge of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Outstanding organizational and writing skills and prior experience in a health care or higher education environment required.
Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment, are required.
