DE Turf Sports Complex, located in Frederica, Delaware, is an 84-acre, state-of-the-art sports complex comprised of 12 synthetic turf fields that will serve as a venue to host a variety of different events. This position reports to the Executive Director and directs the communications and business development efforts. The primary responsibility of this position is strategic development of integrated marketing strategies and tactics supporting organization’s initiatives, including generating new business revenue with local, regional, and national prospective clients through the sale of integrated sponsorship packages. Key functions of this position include:
Business Development and Sales:
Responsible for all aspects of business development, including; identifying appropriate categories, specific companies and decision makers; updating sales materials and sales databases; preparing presentations and specifically engaging sales efforts around new business opportunities.
Work with senior leadership across the organization (strategy, content, programming, product, etc.) to determine where partnerships or sponsorships can add value across functions.
Developing strategies for the creation of new business opportunities and achieving the organization's revenue goals for sponsorship and other revenue-generating opportunities. The position will be assigned revenue goals and be eligible for commissions on sponsorships.
Responsible for management of sponsorship activation to ensure all sponsorship contracts are honored and executed to the highest level of service.
Responsible for overseeing development and execution of grant writing and fundraising efforts.
Communicate consistently and effectively with other members of the organization (across all levels) whose departments are directly involved or otherwise impacted by partnerships and other team strategic initiatives. Understand and interpret the potential risks and rewards of partnerships under consideration across all functions of the organization.
Marketing, Public Relations and Communications:
Lead the creation of smart and fully accountable marketing and public relations plans in an efficient manner.
Assists in the achievement of organization’s objectives by recommending the most compelling combination of marketing activations to support business strategies.
Ensures all materials across multiple marketing channels and formats represent organization’s brand positioning and messaging appropriately.
Directs all marketing and promotion efforts for each of the organization’s core programs, currently soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse. Work collaboratively with Directors of Sport and other staff to develop marketing and promotion activities to increase program revenue.
Serve as main point of communication with local partners and community organizations (chamber of commerce, tourism agencies, partnership groups, non-profits).
Create and manage budget providing monthly reports to Executive Director and Board.
Build media interest and ensure regular contact with target media outlets, as well as provide appropriate response to media requests.
Manage all marketing and business development staff, interns, and volunteers.
Provide annual assessment and performance review of assigned staff.
Ability to build and articulate in verbal and written form compelling business cases and rationale for opportunities to drive internal consensus and attain organizational support and resourcing
5+ years creating and managing marketing strategies and plans for a non-profit or B2B organization and creating and implementing social media strategies and campaigns
Strong leader with an entrepreneurial spirit and ability to quickly understand and assess business challenges and offer solid expertise in identifying new marketing opportunities and providing targeted marketing support
Must be a self-starter. Ability to think strategically and work in an extremely fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient in using CRM system.
Possesses strong digital marketing background and understanding of when and how to leverage these channels for best outcomes.
Experience hiring, training developing and managing staff.
Travel as necessary.
Flexibility to work long hours and nights, including weekends
