Position Description/Details The Director of Marketing and Communications will provide leadership for the development and implementation of an integrated strategic marketing plan that is aligned with the Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) plan of the College. Primary duties include providing marketing strategy in support of recruitment and retention goals and related needs of the College. Responsibilities include direction and oversight of all promotions, publications, media relations, social media, and the web to increase Peninsula College’s visibility, brand-awareness, reputation and engagement with prospective student groups and other key constituencies. The Director supervises a dynamic team of marketing professionals and will develop and manage marketing budgets with oversight from the Vice President for Student Services. The successful candidate will possess a welcoming personality and collaborative leadership style that actively engages all internal and external stakeholders in a manner that consistently models the Guiding Principles of the College.
General Responsibilities • Work with President’s Cabinet and other College and Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) team leaders to develop a comprehensive and dynamic marketing strategies for Peninsula College. • Provide leadership, expertise, and creativity in all marketing efforts that promote enrollment and student success. • Collaborate across all departments and divisions of the college on all marketing activities. • Develop the annual integrated marketing and communication plan of the College including strategic marketing planning, market research, digital strategies, budget development, and assessment of return on investment based on measurable outcomes. • Coordinate the promotion of the College’s image by increasing public awareness of the institution and its programs, services, and opportunities through targeted marketing activities/events. • Lead the marketing component of implementing the college’s SEM plan, partnering with recruitment and retention efforts by program and department. • Assist the President’s Office with marketing-related governmental relations activities and events. • Collaborate with staff from Student Services and Instruction to develop a deep understanding of college programs and services in order to market to targeted student populations. • Collaborate with Institutional Research to extract student demographic data for the marketing plan and targeted marketing and public relations campaigns. • Track and pursue emerging technologies in marketing and communications practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness and to keep PC on the leading edge of current and emerging practices. • Focus the College’s web and digital presence as a tool for marketing, recruitment, student services and business processes with a focus on recruitment and retention including but not limited to the use and optimization of a CRM tool, geo-fencing, social media, etc. • Manage print and electronic media and related marketing materials. • Guide and assist with copywriting in the development of persuasive messaging for prospective students. • Manage the production of all major college publications such as the catalog, quarterly publications, events calendars, annual reports, athletic materials, etc. consistent with the college brand. • Coordinate photo and video shoots for all promotional materials. • Develop, implement and enforce policies for the Peninsula College branding and style guides. • Develop communication and media strategies in coordination with the Communication Coordination Specialist that successfully deliver information and key messages to the public. • Coordinate the development and distribution of all college communications and story ideas, including print, direct mailing, electronic campaigns and advertisements. • Continuously research competition and evaluate necessary new strategies for the College. • Establish priorities and manage timelines for all marketing projects, events, and activities. • Develop familiarity with community resources through active engagement with local community. • Supervise marketing and communications team. • Represent the college within community college system-level commissions, councils, and at related meetings. • Assist with related duties or special projects as assigned.
Employment Terms • This is a 12-month, full-time, administrative exempt position reporting to the Vice President for Student Services • Annual Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 dependent on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design or other closely related field, or 5-plus years of successful, demonstrated growth as a Marketing/Communications manager, is required. • Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or closely related field preferred. • Superlative interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels and across all departments of an organization. • 3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, advertising, brand management. • Experience in a higher education environment, including creating marketing materials for college/university programs is highly desirable. • Exemplary written and oral communication and presentation skills. • In-depth knowledge of branding, marketing, communication, advertising techniques. • Familiarity with web analytics, goals, conversions, and campaigns. • Knowledge and experience in developing effective marketing and communication plans. • Knowledge and experience with Strategic Enrollment Management. • Effective supervisory and teamwork skills and experience. • Demonstrated experience in project management including planning, development, and implementation of strategic goals. • Experience developing and implementing new programs or initiatives. • Experience in managing a budget. • Commitment to diversity by actively fostering a climate of equity and inclusion. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and design software such as Adobe Creative Suite.
Physical Work requirements • Work is typically performed in an office environment and requires standing and/or sitting and using computers for extended periods of time. • Position requires ability and willingness to travel (some flying required); periodic overnight stays at non-local state meetings or conferences required. Valid driver’s license with available vehicle for local travel.
