This is a full-time, benefits eligible, at will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but may vary based on operational needs.
Reporting to the Director of Media Relations, the Community Relations Manager (CRM) manages SDSU neighbor and community relations. The CRM will partner with identified agencies, community groups and constituencies to advance the mission of the university and the livability of the neighborhood. The CRM will work collaboratively with others within Marcomm, University Relations and Development, Associated Students and others at SDSU to secure support for key initiatives and strategic priorities from neighbor and community leaders. This also includes collaborating with the Office of the President, the Division of Student Affairs and the Division of Business and Financial Affairs as necessary. The CRM will serve as a liaison to the community - representing SDSU at community meetings and functions.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Two-three years professional experience in community relations or public relations.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
Demonstrated experience creating and implementing complex community relations initiatives.
Must have a commitment to higher education and be knowledgeable about the unique environment of a major public university.
Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, e-mail, and listservs.
Required to attend meetings/events or perform duties outside of normal work hours (may include weekends).
Must have the ability to travel and attend off-campus appointments and events.
Experience in a diverse organizational setting.
Established relationships with community leaders.
Demonstrated experience resolving difficult issues with constituents, clients and/or members of the public.
Experience working within a large public organization.
