The City of Boynton Beach, the third largest city in Palm Beach County, is looking for a skilled, energetic and self directed individual to join our nationally accredited team as the Recreation Supervisor III of Marketing and Outreach. The purpose of this classification is to organize, coordinate and direct all marketing, community relations, sponsorship, advocacy and volunteer activities for the Recreation and Parks Department. Work is performed with relative independence within established guidelines.
Organizes, coordinates, and directs all marketing/public relations efforts for the Recreation and Parks Department, including but not limited to, press releases, flyers, newsletters, brochures and various reports. Develops and implements marketing and public relations programs that promote City programs, facilities and events. Solicits sponsorships for events and programs from local businesses and organizations in the form of monetary donations, services, volunteers, entertainment, etc. Represents the Department at community events to promote the Department's programs, activities, facilities and special events; posts real-time to social media. Manages and updates the Recreation and Parks Department's web page and online social media platform. Prepares, implements and evaluates marketing plans, including performing market research and development of policies and procedures. Coordinates and manages all aspects of the Department's volunteer program, including soliciting, training, placing, supervising, evaluating and tracking. Leads the Department's community relations efforts, including developing processes, procedures and plans for establishing contacts with community organizations and groups. Manages advocacy efforts to promote the positive benefits and value of parks and recreation services and programs. Formulates the marketing budget, monitors expenditures and generates revenue; conforms to applicable financial policies/procedures.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in digital media, marketing, public administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience implementing marketing strategies and coordinating varied media projects. Professional certification as a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) through the National Recreation and Parks Association. If not in possession of the certification upon hire, must obtain within four (4) years in position. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.

Who We Are:
The City of Boynton Beach Recreation & Parks Department maintains and operates more than 38 sites for recreational use. At the head of the Department is the Director who reports to the Assistant City Manager. The City Commission appoints a Recreation & Park Advisory Board of 7 members and 2 alternates. The Board meets monthly, providing valuable citizen input to the department's management.
On October 4, 2016, the City of Boynton Beach Recreation and Parks Department received national re-accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). This distinguished accomplishment was announced in St. Louis, MO at the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Annual Conference.
National accreditation requires recreation and park agencies to respond to 151 standards representing elements of effective and efficient recreation and park operations. To become accredited, agencies must demonstrate their ability to meet all 37 fundamental standards and 95% of the non-fundamental standards upon re-accreditation. The City of Boynton Beach Recreation and Parks Department is only one of 22 agencies in the state to have gone through the process and received national accreditation. Nationwide, less than 3% of park and recreation agencies are accredited; Florida leads the nation in accredited agencies and is proud to share this good news to our citizens.
