Global Initiatives: Assistant Director for Communications and Marketing to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for effective internal and external communication for international and continuing higher education curricular and co-curricular programs. Communication channels include websites, social media, electronic and print communications with a focus on content and attention to detail. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, creative, and adept at juggling multiple assignments; will produce high quality work under tight deadlines; and will professionally implement all aspects of web production, utilizing best practices, as well as institutional and industry standards. Responsibilities include: Develop, design, and execute print and web based promotion and marketing. Write and edit content for web, print, and electronic documents with a focus on accuracy, clarity, length, style, and consistency; comply with accessibility standards; ensure communications align with university brand standards and policies; develop, design, and execute social media based promotion and marketing, as well as information dissemination; maintain skills set of progressive and innovative promotion, marketing and information design techniques to implement rapidly; maintain an awareness of audience needs and appropriate information design and marketing needs; recruit, hire, train, and supervise team of student employees and/or interns; other marking, promotion, and public relations duties as assigned.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Interactive Media Studies, Technical Writing, Strategic Communications, or related field; working knowledge of HTML and website maintenance; writing and editing experience; organization skills that include acute attention to detail and an ability to multitask; ability to work independently and take initiative in creating new web content; ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with a broad range of internal and external constituencies and work as part of a cross-functional team; excellent time management skills; verifiable excellent attendance history.
Desire: Master’s degree in related field; one to three years of experience in the maintenance of websites within higher education; experience working with and providing guidance to graphic designers, editors, IT specialists, or related positions; experience developing information architecture; knowledge of 508 Accessibility standards; demonstrated knowledge of content management systems, such as Cascade Server, Drupal, and WordPress; demonstrated application of Google Analytics.
