The Graduate School at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) has an opportunity for a full-time, Senior Marketing and Recruitment Specialist. The UMB Graduate School offers graduate education and training in biomedical, health, and human service sciences - offering 23 Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree programs, and three post-baccalaureate certificate programs in these areas of study.
The Senior Marketing and Recruitment Specialist will work with the Graduate School's admissions staff, administrators, faculty, and students to develop and implement strategic recruitment and marketing plans for the Graduate School based academic programs. The selected applicant is responsible for the overall management of communications and support for applicants through the admissions process. In addition, the Senior Marketing and Recruitment Specialist conducts ROI (Return on Investment) analysis and assessments to gauge effectiveness of promotional strategies and take action for identifying strengths and weaknesses. Regularly reports on the progress of marketing plans and the impact of specific marketing initiatives to increase enrollment and enhance the reputation of the Graduate School.

Collaborates with the Graduate School's admissions staff, administrators, faculty, and students to develop and implement strategic recruitment and marketing plans for online and entrepreneurial degree programs.
Responsible for communications and support to applicants through the admissions process.
Develops relationships with external stakeholders in the health sciences industry (hospital administrators, professional organization leadership, faculty and advisors from surrounding undergraduate health sciences programs).
Deploys and manages a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to streamline and measure marketing and recruitment efforts.
Provides application and enrollment data to the Graduate School's administration and faculty.
Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing various recruitment strategies including, but not limited to: mailings, electronic communications, social media, college visits, information sessions, and other special events.
Designs advertisements; prepares press releases and articles; develops, writes, edits, and completes lay outs for Graduate School publications; coordinates with printers and other personnel to ensure publications are printed on schedule and according to budgetary and other requirements.
Provides oversight for the Graduate School and Academic Innovation websites.
In partnership with the Graduate Student Association, supports the production and distribution of a regular e-newsletter for the Graduate School.
Conducts ROI analysis and assessments to gauge effectiveness of promotional strategies and take action for identifying strengths and weaknesses.
Advises, hires, trains, and schedules student staff and interns.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelors in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or Business required. Masters or other Post-Baccalaureate education in Marketing, Design, Communications, Management & Leadership, Higher Education, Business, Data Science or related field is preferred.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in marketing, communications, public or client relations. Experience in an academic setting with online programs and/or graphic design is preferred.

Possess an understanding of issues and trends impacting the healthcare/academia along with the ability to create and capitalize on news-making opportunities.
Skill in acting as a liaison with clients, vendors, and staff members and effectively communicating their ideas, messages or instincts.
Strategic and analytical thinking skills with an ability to market complex information to the public and visualize items for consistency, accuracy, and style.
Self-motivated, self-directed and highly organized to prioritize ongoing and new projects, as well as facilitating the timely completion of production phases.
Skill in creating, curating and publishing multimedia content.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with multi-dimensional points of view and to take accountability for deliverables, and results; skill in managing multiple complex tasks and projects concurrently; exceptional organizational skills.
Proficiency in utilizing Word and other Microsoft Office programs.
