Boston University's Creative Services division is looking for an experienced, flexible Copy Editor with uncompromising standards and outstanding attention to detail who will be responsible for reviewing and proofreading strategically important print and web communications of the University. As a member of the editorial team, the Copy Editor will need to shift priorities to accommodate urgent deadlines while maintaining unfailing accuracy. The Copy Editor role demands an awareness of larger-scope issues of sense, logic, factual accuracy, and adherence to brand guidelines while maintaining steady focus on smaller-scope issues like grammar, consistency, and layout discrepancies. At all stages of the production process, the Copy Editor collaborates with a creative team of graphic designers, web developers, writers, print production professionals, and account executives on high-visibility, top-priority projects at Boston University.
Salary: Grade 26
BA/BS and three to five years of related experience, with strong communication skills, time management, and ability to juggle multiple tasks under deadline. Knowledge of, and experience in, WordPress, Microsoft Word, and Google Docs essential. Expertise with Chicago Manual of Style preferred. Must be able to work under pressure with multiple, conflicting priorities. Outstanding attention to detail. Must be proactive, problem-solving approach to all editing projects. Adaptable to shifting priorities and responsive in accommodating urgent deadlines while maintaining unfailing accuracy and attention to detail.
